Chapter 32 - Chapter 32 : Weapon Refiner

Nexus was taken aback, his eyes widening as he gazed at the dwarf known as Thorgrim Flamebeard.

After a moment of silence, Nexus inquired, "Why do you want to work for me? And what makes you believe I will allow you to work for me?" Nexus asked with genuine interest.

Thorgrim continued to smile confidently and replied, "I am confident that you will see my worth. As for my reasons why I want to work for you, I prefer not to say."

Nexus maintained his composure as he studied Thorgrim. "And why do you believe I will allow you to work for me?" he questioned.

" Just because I am a 1 Star Weapon Refiner," Thorgrim declared proudly, his beard fluttering in the wind like flames.

Nexus's expression shifted slightly, a sense of shock resonating within him.

He scrutinized Thorgrim before asking, "You claim to be a 1 Star Weapon Refiner. Is this truly the case?" .

Thorgrim nodded confidently, his pride unwavering.

Nexus composed himself, narrowing his eyes as he observed Thorgrim intently. After a moment of contemplation, Nexus was astonished to discover that this dwarf was at the Spirit Realm.

Nexus was surprised when a dwarf suddenly appeared out of nowhere and expressed interest in working for him as a Weapon Refiner. What made it even more unexpected was the fact that this dwarf also had a Spirit Realm Cultivation base. It was definitely a strange and suspicious situation.

Nexus had heard of dwarfs before, and according to records, they were a race that lived deep in the mountains.

They were known for being short, brawny, and the males having thick, long beards. Dwarves enjoyed living underground and were skilled in mining and metallurgy. Most importantly, they were renowned for their expertise in weapon refining and mechanics.

Dwarves were also known for constructing huge halls and cities beneath mountains were they lived.

They also had a reputation for being able to drink large quantities of wine without getting drunk. It seemed like they were quite the party animals when it came to wine!

Overall, Nexus found the encounter with the dwarf to be both surprising and intriguing. It was definitely a unique opportunity to have someone with such specialized skills offer to work for him but he can't just let a strange dwarf that he doesn't know anything about to work for him.

Nexus snapped out of his deep thoughts and once again scrutinized Thorgrim in front of him.

Nexus' eyes flickered slightly as he asked, "What I don't understand is why, out of all the other kingdoms and forces, you suddenly want to work in my crippled and poor kingdom? Don't tell me it's because my kingdom has great potential or any of that nonsense. There must be a reason why you came here."

Thorgrim's face changed slightly, his rough features turning slightly red. He scratched his long fiery red beard, his eyes darting around the hall.

"Well..." Thorgrim eyes turned, his hands fidgeting with his huge hammer.

" I can't just allow a stranger I don't know to come here and say they want to work for me. Who knows, you might be a spy or have malicious intentions towards me and my kingdom. So, tell me, what is the reason you chose to come to this kingdom specifically and say you want to work for me?"Nexus' eyes turned cold as he looked at Thorgrim, and the temperature in the hall suddenly plummeted.

Thorgrim's face turned slightly pale as he felt shivers down his spine upon seeing Nexus's cold gaze.

"Wait, the truth is that I got kicked out by my father," Thorgrim quickly waved his short hands and said hurriedly, panic evident in his eyes.

Nexus's cold and threatening gaze turned into slight surprise. "What do you mean you got kicked out by your father?" he asked.

Thorgrim heaved a sigh of relief, clearly scared by Nexus's cold eyes. He looked at Nexus and said with a bitter smile, "Well, to begin with, my father is the chief in a mountain village full of dwarves. We live in an underground mountain village far away from here. A few months ago, my father, the chief, kicked me out of the village. He said I am weak and need to temper myself. He said that if I don't reach 3 Star Weapon Refiner status, I don't need to come back."

Thorgrim took a peek at Nexus's face and continued, "So for the past few months, I've been traveling around, going from Kingdom to Kingdom, through dangerous forests. I've even been robbed a few times and almost lost my life countless times. I lost all my belongings and money, only my dear hammer is left, which has accompanied me through my journey."

Thorgrim's face showed pain as he narrated his story, looking at Nexus with his beady eyes, appearing quite pitiful.

Nexus looked at Thorgrim's pitiful face and almost laughed. This dwarf is really funny.

"So, why do you want to work here instead of staying in the other Kingdoms you came across?" Nexus asked with a curious look.

Thorgrim scratched his beard and said with a flushed face, "Well, I might not be held in high regard if I work in other Kingdoms since they have more powerful Weapon Refiners than me, so..."

"So, you thought if you could settle in a weak Kingdom where your will be held in high regard right? And this Kingdom happens to be the ' weak ' you are looking for " Nexus said with a wide grin.

Thorgrim nodded with an embarrassed face and he looked at Nexus with a nervous face.

Nexus chuckled softly, "Well, hearing what you said, I can tell that you're telling the truth. So, I'll allow you to work for me. From now on, you are the chief forger of the Mysthaven Kingdom."

Thorgrim was stunned for a moment, his face turning slightly red, his beady eyes flashing with excitement. He immediately went down on one knee, "Thorgrim Flamebeard greets His Majesty."

"Arise," Nexus ordered with a calm face, but deep down, he was thrilled. Recruiting a Weapon Refiner, even at 1 Star, was a great start.

Weapon Refinement is a crucial occupation in the Astheria World. Weapon Refiners are highly sought after by many forces.

They can refine powerful weapons and armor for the army, boosting their strength on the battlefield. Not only kingdoms and other forces seek Weapon Refiners, but lone Cultivators as well.

Almost all Cultivators in the Astheria World need weapons. The weapons refined by Weapon Refiners are called spirit weapons, ranging from 1 Star to 9 Star.

Spirit Weapons play a significant role in a Cultivator's journey, increasing their chances of survival. This is why Weapon Refiners are highly respected and sought after.

Nexus looked at Thorgrim and said, "Thorgrim, you can rest in the city for now. I'll call you soon. Our Kingdom is lacking in many areas, so please address them. I promise it won't be long before we have a large smithy."

"Thank you, Your Majesty," Thorgrim bowed respectfully.

"You can go now," Nexus waved his hand.

Thorgrim nodded and left the hall with his huge hammer on his back.

Nexus watched him go, grinning wildly.
