Chapter 35 - Chapter 35 : City Planning

In the opulent confines of the Royal Palace, a lavishly decorated room resembling a study awaited.

Adorned with bookshelves brimming with a diverse array of literary works, a grand table commanded the center of the room alongside a sizable chair.

The spacious room was further enhanced by a floor-to-ceiling window, allowing natural light to illuminate the space.

Seated in the room was Nexus, with Lexx standing opposite him, head bowed.

" Lexx sit down ",Nexus gestured towards the chair across the table, prompting Lexx to take a seat.

"Thank you, Your Majesty," Lexx expressed with a respectful bow before settling into the chair, maintaining a posture of utmost decorum as he focused intently on Nexus.

"Lexx, as promised, once we have finished dealing with the Nobles, I will bestow upon you a powerful Cultivation. Do you remember our agreement?" Nexus casually leaned back in his chair, placing his right leg over his left, as he gazed at Lexx.

"Yes, Your Majesty," Lexx nodded, his eyes betraying his excitement, he looked at Nexus with a eager look.

Nexus chuckled softly at Lexx's eager expression. With a wave of his hand, a black book materialized on the table. The cover of the book was a deep, pitch black, emanating an aura of danger and darkness.

Lexx was immediately captivated by the book, his eyes glazed over as he reached out to pick it up. As his hand made contact with the book, he felt a strange sensation stirring within him. Faint black shadows emerged from the book, wrapping around his hands.

Instead of fear, Lexx felt a sense of familiarity and connection. He gazed at the title of the book and read it aloud: " Darkness Codex."

Nexus observed the unfolding events with keen interest, his eyes resembling red rubies that glowed with intensity as he watched the interaction between Lexx and the mysterious book.

After a few moments, the shadows that had enveloped Lexx's hand receded back into the pitch-black pages of the book.

As Lexx snapped out of his trance-like state, he gazed at Nexus with a mixture of confusion and curiosity. "Your Majesty, what kind of Cultivation technique is this Darkness Codex?" he inquired, his expression reflecting his puzzlement.

Nexus raised his arms and shrugged, admitting, "Honestly, I am not certain of the specifics of this Cultivation technique. However, I can tell you that its rank is quite high. The Darkness Codex is a Nine Star Sky Rank Cultivation technique."

Lexx's hands trembled as he almost drooped the book, his eyes widened in astonishment. The realization that the seemingly ordinary book held such a valuable treasure left him momentarily breathless.

A few moments later Lexx came back to his senses, with a solemn expression, he turned to Nexus and expressed his reluctance, "Your Majesty, this Cultivation technique is too precious for me to accept."

Nexus was taken aback by Lexx's refusal and laughed lightly but he was gratified as he witnessed Lexx's ability to resist the allure of power and remain composed in the face of temptation.

Nexus calmly reassured Lexx, "You don't have to worry about it. I promised you that I will give you a powerful Cultivation technique and besides this Darkness Codex is really suitable for you. Did you not feel something when you touched the book?"

Lexx nodded, reflecting on the sensation he had experienced moments earlier. He raised his hand and looked at Nexus with gratitude, surprised by the precious gift of the Cultivation technique.

"Previously, I examined your meridians and discovered something peculiar. All your meridians are as dark as the night sky, which explains why your Cultivation progresses so effectively at night. You possess a strong affinity with darkness," Nexus explained.

Listening intently, Lexx absorbed Nexus's words. He had always been intrigued by the strange sensations he felt at night or in dark surroundings, now understanding that it was linked to his dark meridians.

"I have also considered something," Nexus said, catching Lexx's attention.

"What is it, Your Majesty?" Lexx inquired, curious.

"You may possess a special physique related to darkness or shadows," Nexus revealed.

Taken aback, Lexx asked, " Your Majesty what are special physiques?".

Nexus explained," Special physiques were innate bodies or gifts from the Heavens, each with unique attributes, and your affinity with darkness indicate a special connection and the Darkness Codex is really suitated for you, with this Cultivation technique you can quickly increase your strength ".

Lexx nodded in understanding, "Thank you, Your Majesty, for this invaluable opportunity," Lexx stood up, knelt, and thanked Nexus with a solemn and respectful demeanor.

" Stand up," Nexus ordered with a faint smile on his lips. "Thank you, Your Majesty." Lexx bowed towards Nexus once again before sitting back down.

"Quickly go and start cultivating this technique to raise your strength. I have an important task for you to complete," Nexus said nonchalantly.

Lexx nodded and stood up.

"Also, call Grandpa Kassius and Thorgrim to come and meet me," Nexus added as Lexx reached the door of the study room.

"Understood, Your Majesty," Lexx turned around and bowed before opening the door and leaving the room, leaving only Nexus behind.

Nexus watched as Lexx left the room, leaning against the chair, seemingly lost in deep thought.

Half an hour later, there was a knock on the door. "Come in," Nexus ordered while glancing at the door.

With a creak, the door opened and Kassius entered followed by Thorgrim. The moment they entered, they bowed and greeted Nexus respectfully.

"Your Majesty," they said in unison.

Nexus gave a faint nod and stood up from his chair. With a wave of his hands, two scrolls appeared on the empty table. "The reason why I called the two of you here is that I have a task for you to complete," Nexus said while opening one of the scrolls and spreading it on the table.

Kassius and Thorgrim looked at the scroll with serious faces. The scroll was a blueprint of the Mysthaven Capital City, with intricate and clear drawings. Everything was neat and perfect.

"This is the new blueprint of the Mysthaven Capital City I have drew, Grandpa Kassius I want you to rebuild the city according to this blueprint," Nexus said while looking at Kassius.

" Understood Your Majesty, but Your Majesty I can see that there are many details in the blueprint. Can you explain it to me?" Kassius asked while looking intensely at the blueprint.

Nexus nodded and continued, "The Capital City will have five main areas: the northern area for the residential area, the Eastern area for the business district, the western area for the army, and the core area where the Royal Palace is located,as for the southern area leave that place for now. I have different plans for it. The city will have four main entrances, one on each direction - east, west, south, and north."

"We also need to rebuild the city wall, making it taller and sturdier. The materials used must be of high quality. Do not worry about the cost, we need to build a strong capital city," Nexus added, explaining the details of the blueprint to Kassius.

" In addition to the five main districts with the city center at its core, there will be four major thoroughfares in the city. These main roads will be interconnected with smaller streets, providing access to all areas in the city ". Nexus added.

Kassius listened attentively, his expression serious and solemn. With huge library containing all kinds of modern knowledge in his mind drawing the blueprint of a city is easy, although it was mind consuming Nexus was able to complete the blueprint successfully. The city's capacity to accommodate a million people posed no challenge.

Nexus turned to Thorgrim, who appeared intrigued by the conversation. Nexus assigned Thorgrim to assist Kassius in constructing the envisioned structure, presenting them with a blueprint of a kiln used for brick production.

After understanding the function of the kiln, Thorgrim was ready to begin the construction process. Nexus urged Kassius to expedite the recruitment process, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. Time was of the essence, and construction needed to commence within five days.

Acknowledging Nexus's directive, Kassius assured him that recruitment efforts would continue without delay. Nexus emphasized the importance of building the construction team quickly.

With a wave of his hand, Nexus dismissed the of them, instructing them to proceed with their tasks. Kassius and Thorgrim bowed respectfully, taking the scrolls with them as they exited the room.
