—THREE MONTHS LATER—
"I need four orders of the tapioca pancakes with coconut! Two corn cakes and one coffee with milk!" I yelled as I walked past the kitchen's open door, trays in hand.
Handing them to Sofia as she rushed towards me, I told her, "Take these to table four but make sure that drunk, Tio João doesn't touch the soup, it's got nuts."
Sofia nodded before rushing towards the table, kicking the chair of a drunk guest that had tried to touch her.
I immediately went around the busy inn's floor, talking to my guests and feeling more and more like myself as the days rolled by.
Did I still stop everything I did to glance at the door whenever I heard the bell ring? Yes. Did I still having his things holed up in my room even though I'd promised Maria I'd have thrown them out? Also yes.
