Chapter 48 - Devil’s Descent

"What the fuck!?"

Doron cursed as he saw the demonic human standing once again.

Its body had been filled to the brim with wounds as blood continuously spurted out from it.

Ten times.

He had repeatedly knocked down the demonic human ten times.

However, it stood up again and again.

Wooooongggg— Arghhhhhhh!!!

A strange sound suddenly resounded from the demonic human, followed by its relentless screams of pain.

"What's happening now…?"

Doron's expression was solemn as he observed the demonic human.

A strange tattoo suddenly spread out to its body from its right hand as it erupted with a massive amount of demonic power.

Hisssss—

A deafening and inhumane sound came out of the demonic human's mouth.

Doron tightened the grip on his war axe as he suddenly rushed, feeling that letting the demonic human live longer wouldn't be good.

Swoosh—

A war axe that was covered with bright aura cut through the air as it slashed through the demonic human.

[Mountain Splitter]

Doron chanted along with his flawless attack, causing the ground beneath him to crack.

With him as the center of origin, the crack on the ground spanned about a hundred-meter radius.

Huff—

Taking a deep breath, he looked ahead to check if the demonic human was still alive.

"He took the full brunt of my attack head on, I'm sure that it…"

He was unable to continue his words as he saw the demonic human struggling to stand up.

It had been severely mutilated, but it was still alive.

It was still trying to stand up.

Doron's expression became grim as he brandished his war axe once more.

[Mountain Splitter]

Boom—

The demonic human was torn apart into pieces, but it was still wriggling.

"Not good…"

Doron spoke out loud as he looked at the demonic human, his breathing becoming a little hurried.

"Okay, one mo—"

His ears twitched a little before he could finish speaking.

"Shit."

All he could do was curse out loud as he saw a few more demonic humans slowly surrounding him.

'Please be safe. Please be safe. Please be safe…'

These thoughts rang repeatedly in Regis's mind as he finally arrived at one of the gates of Toran City.

He looked around and saw the countless corpses that littered the ground.

Not an ounce of emotion could be seen on his expression no matter how mutilated the corpses looked.

Instead, he focused on sensing the little remaining demonic signatures of Greg and Lea.

His face remained calm no matter what he thought and felt.

His gift of Tranquility made it easier for him.

A short while was all it took as Regis's eyes shot open, "That way."

His figure blurred as he instantly dashed towards a certain direction, not wasting even a second.

He didn't even have the time to admire the city that he wanted to get into in the past.

The mutilated corpses, the ruined buildings, and the cracked roads seemed all too foreign in his eyes.

Clang— Clank!!!

Shinggg—

After a few seconds of non-stop running, he heard the sounds of battle.

"There's still someone alive? Guards, maybe?" Regis asked himself as he slowed down.

Although he was in a rush, he figured that it would only take a second to help.

After all, he wanted to do everything in his power just to foil the demonic human leader's plans.

Thus, he approached carefully as the sounds of battle became louder.

Regis's eyes widened at what he saw.

A man wearing a large massive war axe was single-handedly fighting four demonic children.

Despite the numerous injuries on his body, he was still able to deliver a fatal strike to the demonic children.

"This…" Regis felt amazed at what he was seeing.

He could see that the man's eyes were both closed and bleeding, meaning that he wasn't relying on his vision.

However, even though he could kill the demonic children with one strike, they kept rising up.

'My assumptions were correct…'

Along the way, he analyzed the demonic tattoo on his right hand.

He discovered that, like the brand on his heart, it also contained a subtle grayish glow amidst its pitch-black demonic power.

The only difference was that it also contained a hint of reddish hue.

Regis kept observing.

'The grayish and reddish glow must mean something, just like how green represents corruption…'

"Arghhh!!!"

A loud groan caught his attention.

Regis saw that the man was slowly being pushed back.

Clearly, he had already reached his limits.

'I guess I won't be able to keep gathering information… Oh well.'

Regis thought as he brandished his twin daggers and instantly rushed towards the battle.

***

"Impossible! Another demon!? No wait…"

The demon had a shocked expression on his face as he sensed another being with pure demonic power approaching.

However, he soon calmed down and tried to probe more using his senses.

"This demonic power is familiar…"

The vivid face of a boy soon appeared inside his mind.

"Ha… Hahahahaha!!!"

A loud, rough laugh that would grate the ears of anyone who heard it, came from the demon's mouth.

"I wonder what you're trying to achieve, Regis!?!? But in the end, everything is useless!!!"

The demon laughed hysterically.

"I will still be the winner in the end!!!"

He looked in a certain direction, "That's right! Come!! Deliver yourself to me!!!"

The demon then spread out both his hands.

He then smashed the miniature sculpture with his hands.

Soon enough, a terrifying amount of demonic power surged and covered the entire City of Toran.

[Dear Agaroth]

[The Demon of Destruction]

[I offer all these sacrifice to you]

[Heed my call and descend]

[Wreck havoc and bring upon…]

[...the destruction of the world]

A huge demonic circle slowly formed in the sky as massive amounts of demonic power surged towards it.

In the streets of Toran City, one could see the countless corpses slowly turn into black mist of demonic power.

These black mists continuously surged towards the sky.

The huge demonic circle that was larger than the whole of Toran City slowly started to materialize.

Crack—

The earth trembled, producing earthquakes in the span of several hundred kilometers.
