Chapter 79 - Chapter 80- Save Them

Anna kept formulating different scape plans in her head, but none was working out, the gloomy sky made it almost impossible for her to see.

If she decides to let go of the vine, the gushing rocky stream below might crush their bones, she was sure the mission would have been over by now yet no one was coming to save them.

She panicked.

Anna's panic was palpable as she felt her grip on the root vine slipping.

Her hand had been hurting for a while now, she felt the joint in her elbow was about to dislocate from their weight.

" Help!" she screamed.

" Somebody, help us!" she shouted again, but there was no response.

Anna shouted until her throat hurt, but there was no response.

" Someone, anyone, please help us" she prayed silently in her heart as tears formed in her eyes.

Just as she lost hope and couldn't hold on to the pain from her grip on the vine, someone grabbed her hand, clasped around the vine like it was their lifeline (which it was), and pulled them up.

Anna's eyes widened, she raised her gaze to meet someone she never thought would save them, even in her wildest dreams.

She couldn't believe her eyes.

" C-classmate Ha- Harrison?" she called out softly, her voice a little hoarse, afraid she was being delusional. She even wiped the soil and rainwater from her face.

Harrison's expression was unfathomable, his cold and handsome features chiselled against the thunderstorm backdrop made her heart race.

She was transfixed, afraid to look away, she really wondered if it was a dream too good to be true.

Her eyes misted with tears and her nose soured, thank you, she cried in her heart.

"Can you still walk?" Harrison's deep, velvety voice cut through the rain, pulling Anna back to reality.

With her head lowered, she nodded softly and sniffed, still holding Delilah's hand as she sat on the ground, Delilah's head on her lap. She looked up to the rain.

"The rain won't be stopping anytime soon, we have to leave," Anna said, her eyes locked on Harrison.

"Let's go, put her on my back," Harrison commanded, his charisma undeniable.

Anna hesitated for a moment before they placed Delilah on Harrison's back.

"Do you know the way?" Anna asked hesitantly, her eyes scanning the dense forest.

No navigation kit, no emergency kit, and the gloomy sky made their vision dark, even if he knows the way, they might end up walking in circles.

"Just follow me," Harrison said, his voice brooking no argument.

Anna nodded, and they set out, Harrison leading the way.

As they trudged through the forest, the rain pounding against them, Anna couldn't help but wonder if Harrison really knew the way.

But his confident stride and determined gaze put her at ease.

Anna glanced at him, trying to process what had just happened. Why Harrison? Why did he save them?

He didn't even ask how they got into that situation, Anna suddenly felt her body tremble, but the cause wasn't from the rain, it was from the young man who had Delilah on his back, she felt his anger.

It was terrifying.

Harrison's jaw tightened, he didn't know what came over him when he saw those girls return, though they reported Anna and Delilah went missing from wandering by themselves, he couldn't put away the feeling that the girls had something to do with it.

He didn't even think of the consequences when he dashed into the forest to look for them.

After searching through the forest for over thirty minutes, his heart tightened when he heard Anna's call for help, he knew they must have got into trouble.
