Chapter 78 - Chapter 79- Attack

Yan Ruyi, holding a thick stick, towered over them, a sinister grin spreading across her face.

Her older brother was a gangster, so she knows very well how to knock people unconscious.

"Quick, get their bag," she hissed to the other two girls. "Remember, we're going according to the plan so you have to act as innocent as you could when we return, but before that, let's hide their bodies first"

The other two girls, Li Ming and Wang Xiao, rushed forward, snatching the bag and map from Delilah's body, they dragged their bodies out of plain sight while Yan Ruyi stayed behind to cover up their tracks.

Yan Ruyi tossed the stick she had used to attack Delilah and Anna aside, her eyes gleaming with malice and disgust.

I'll love to see you fail horribly now.

" We are done" Li Ming and Wang Xiao informed as they came out of the bush, brushing off the dirt on their clothes.

"Let's move," she whispered, as the three girls continue the mission, leaving Delilah and Anna unconscious and vulnerable in the forest.

The attack had been swift and merciless, that it left them helpless and alone.

The forest, once a challenging but manageable terrain, had suddenly become a dangerous and unforgiving environment as the rain gathered in the sky.

2 hours, 36 minutes later…

The black clouds merged as one in the sky and soon let out the rain, fierce and mercilessly, like the gods were angry.

Anna groaned as she felt the rain beat her, her eyes fluttered for a while and opened, she looked around and saw no one, it was then she recalled what happened.

She was so angry, her chest hurt.

How vicious?!

She never knew those girls would be so evil, she shouldn't have allowed them walk behind them.

She sat up, holding her throbbing head, and glanced around, trying to find their bag, but it was nowhere to be found.

The rain was still falling, as merciless as ever, and the soil was damp and sticky. She suddenly remembered Delilah, her heart racing with fear. She rose to her feet, her legs trembling, and began to look for her.

"Delilah!" she called out, but there was no response.

'Please, be fine', she prayed in her heart.

" Delilah, where are you?" she called out again and there still was no response.

Anna's eyes scanned the desolate landscape, her heart racing with fear, helplessness, despair, and anger.

The rain pounded against her face, making it difficult to see, she squinted through the downpour, desperate to find Delilah, cleaning her face from time to time.

Her head was still buzzing, her vision spinning as she cleared the bushes, searching for Delilah.

And then, she saw her, limp and helpless, almost slipping down the wet sloppy hillside.

" Delilah!"

Anna sprinted towards her, her heart in her mouth, her feet slipping on the slick soil.

She grabbed Delilah's hand just as she was about to slip away, she held her wrist, trying to pull her up, but her footing gave way.

She fell hard, her palm scraping against the rough ground as they both began to slip on the hillside.

In a panic, Anna reflexively grabbed a root vine from a nearby tree, her fingers closing around it like a vice. She tried to pull Delilah up, but her strength was failing her. Delilah's weight was too much, and she, herself, felt she was being pulled down, towards the rushing, rocky stream below.

Anna panicked, her mind racing. What would she do? She couldn't hold on much longer…
