" Are you... waiting for someone?" Fredrick asked as he revealed a more enchanting smile.
Delilah's heart skipped two beats," A-Actually no, I'm walking home…", Delilah answered with a goofy smile.
Thank you grandma, this is a one in a million opportunity for her to be with Fredrick. Though they sit together, Fredrick doesn't talk to her at all.
" Well, may I help you with a taxi then?" she heard Fredrick's request.
" No… no, I am fine. I want to be independent… I'll surely walk home", Delilah replied with a cute, determined expression.
It was a good thing grandma insisted her father let her relocate to D city. Her grandmother intends to live a common man's life, but she stays in a duplex!? Well, it was located in a peaceful neighborhood with friendly people rather than an estate with no people at all, either with smiling faces or friendly behaviors.
" Are you alright Delilah?" Fredrick frowned slightly when the girl looked lost in thoughts.
" Yep! As I was saying, I want to be independent, and I also would like to rely on myself", she nodded.
Fredrick burst into a round of laughter.
" What is funny?", Delilah look confused.
" Okay! Firstly, you want to be independent, right?" Fredrick asked.
" Yes", Delilah nodded.
" But, you do not have an umbrella or a raincoat, then in the rain you're planning to walk home…"
" Yes, but in my defense, I had an umbrella, but I lent it to a friend"
" You gave out your umbrella... to... someone…" Fredrick was dumbstruck.
Fredrick:" … "
How does this girl's brain works, she gave out her umbrella, then she walks home soaked from the rain. Is that kindness or foolishness?
Fredrick didn't say anymore, he stopped a taxi and shoved Delilah into the car, no matter how much she refused, he paid the taxi and didn't leave until the taxi disappeared from his sight.
Before he left, a mysterious smile marked Fredrick's lips as he watched the taxi move away. The cryptic smile and aura made him look like a different person
