He had a kind and gentle demeanor, with a warm gaze. Everyone from Silvermoon City seemed like goodwill ambassadors.
On the other side of the square, a group of people approached, led by the beautiful blonde Princess Asna. Beside her was an elderly man, who appeared to be the oldest among everyone present and carried an air of dignity.
The old man had a calm expression, slightly curled gray hair, and a streak of turquoise across his forehead. He wore a linen robe with a deep blue belt around his waist. In his hand, he held a long wooden staff inscribed with characters, and on the thumb of the hand holding the staff, there was a jade ring. His attire resembled that of an elder or a mage from a comic book.
On Asna's right was Celeste, along with four young girls, including Bernice and Amanda, and two others I didn't recognize. They followed behind Bernice and Amanda.
The girls were also dressed in military uniforms, with blonde hair styled into two large braids, giving them a playful and cute look. One of the girls was curiously looking around, as if expecting someone. Whom was she hoping to see?
Next to her, behind Amanda, was an unusually tall girl, slightly older, appearing to be around twenty years old. She had a serious expression, her figure exceptionally tall. Her long hair was tied into a ponytail, making her even taller, and she exuded a handsome and heroic aura.
At this moment, the people of Noah City stood on both sides of the road. Women lowered their faces, protecting their children in their arms. At first glance, there seemed to be only around ten children in Noah City.
"Who are they?" I pointed to the old man beside Asna and the two unfamiliar girls, asking Edmund.
He took a look and said, "That's Elder Arufa, the sage of our city. The girl is Dawn Phillips, and the other one is Lindsay Martinez. Lindsay is quite fierce; you better not provoke her." Edmund spoke cautiously, as if he still had lingering fears of being beaten by Lindsay.
As Bernice and the others walked out, several boys in military uniforms also appeared along the road. They either showed admiration or, like Edmund, avoided looking at Bernice and the others.
"Those are Uncle Dominic's reconnaissance team boys. They are the warriors who protect our Noah City." Edmund seemed to notice my gaze on those boys and introduced them to me. I was observing them because, unlike the citizens on the square, they carried the gallant and heroic air of warriors, handsome and robust, similar to Emery, not showing signs of being malnourished."Are they also abilities users, like Amanda?" I asked Edmund.
Edmund nodded with a hint of pride, "Yes, they are. They are also responsible for exploring the radiation zones to find resources for us. They are the heroes of our Noah City!" As Edmund spoke, there was not only pride in his gray-blue eyes but also a touch of envy, as if he admired those boys for being able to go out and search for resources. It was a highly honorable task.
The Reconnaissance Team, what an exciting name. They were Uncle Dominic's team, and it seemed like Uncle Dominic was quite formidable. Moreover, the appearance of abilities users seemed to be better than that of ordinary people, like... some form of evolution.
Princess Asna and her entourage stopped in front of the bridge, smiling as she greeted, "Major Shajah, welcome. May I ask what brings you here?"
I was surprised; Princess Asna knew people from Silvermoon City! Otherwise, how would she know the names of the visitors? This indicated some form of interaction between Noah City and Silvermoon City.
Staying in this world for a bit longer only brought more questions to my mind.
Shajah also smiled politely at Princess Asna, "Apologies for the disturbance, Princess. Have your citizens seen our Silvermoon City escape pods? You are the city nearest to its landing site."
"No," Princess Asna smiled and shook her head.
Shajah smiled slightly, "Are you sure?"
Princess Asna remained exceptionally calm and natural. I admired her for that, as sometimes, you could tell if someone's calmness was a facade. But she seemed genuinely composed, allowing her to maintain a natural demeanor. No wonder her subjects looked at her with respect, and many boys admired her. Her charm was enough to captivate the hearts of many young men.
"Does Major Shajah think that this princess is lying? There's only this much space in Noah City; you're welcome to search," Princess Asna extended her hand, slightly moving aside with a smile that carried a hint of coldness.
Major Shajah felt a bit awkward, blinked, and then smiled again, "Then, may I ask, Your Highness, if you have seen any suspicious individuals recently?"
Princess Asna withdrew her hand, still facing Shajah with a slight smile, "No, there have been no strangers passing through our Noah City these past two days."
Major Shajah smiled slightly. This time, there was no expression of suspicion, and he showed a respectful attitude towards Princess Asna, "That's good. In the future, if there are any strangers in Noah City, please be cautious, as they are very dangerous."
"Oh?" Princess Asna turned to look at Shajah, her eyes revealing a hint of curiosity. "Who could make Silvermoon City feel threatened?"
When Princess Asna said this, Edmund immediately looked at me, his gray-blue eyes filled with surprise.Major Shajah smiled and said, "Because he stole one of our escape pods."
Asna chuckled lightly and turned her face back, saying, "Well, this person does seem to have some skills if he managed to steal something from your Silvermoon City."
Why did I feel like I was being unfairly blamed for stealing the escape pod? ; it was Uncle Dominic and Emery! I glanced at Emery, and he smirked, "Darling, you're looking at me again. I knew you couldn't resist looking at me."
Ugh! I immediately turned my face away. I decided I would never look at him again!Oh, by the way, Edmund by my side was also an accomplice. Now the escape pod from Silvermoon City was completely dismantled under his hands.
"Is he the one they're after?" Edmund asked me in a hushed voice. I shook my head, "No, it's someone named Edmond."
"Stars!" Edmund exclaimed before quickly covering his mouth. I looked at him in confusion, and he said in a low voice, "Are you sure? Lord Edmond doesn't seem like someone who would do such a thing."
I knew it! He fooled everyone in the world!
"Huh? Impossible?" I scoffed. I shook my head, "Believe it or not, it's up to you guys."
He looked at me again and then glanced at Princess Asna in the distance. His eyes still held suspicion. He continued to whisper to me, "Don't let Princess Asna know about this matter."
I looked at him in puzzlement, and he didn't say anything more, wearing a bewildered expression on his face. Then, he murmured softly, "How is that possible? Lord Edmond is so gentle..."
Gentle! Yes! He was very gentle! That's why I fell for it! I brought it upon myself!
"If we see Silvermoon City's escape pod or the suspicious person Major Shajah mentioned, Noah City will immediately contact you and fully cooperate in retrieving your Silvermoon City's property," Princess Asna said with a smile.
I was extremely surprised; Princess Asna was truly remarkable!
Her composure, calmness in the face of change, and the ability to "lie" so naturally, were something I couldn't achieve. Despite appearing to be around the same age as me, her maturity far surpassed mine. It must be this world that accelerated the growth of this princess, allowing her to shoulder the responsibility of guarding Noah City.
Shajah nodded with a smile, and when he lifted his eyes, they landed on Bernice. In his coffee-colored eyes, there was admiration and tenderness.
