"No…" Nyx uttered in a whisper. She shook her head as if by doing so, he would disappear or she would no longer see him again.
He stopped just beside her, his eyes locking with hers in the mirror, but he uttered no words. He just watched her. Her every expression and everything else that was visible. After a long while of just looking at her, his eyes trailed down to her neck on the mark she had been staring at. His hand moved to touch it, but he dropped it beside him again.
"How are you, my little bunny?" was the first thing that he said, but they had her turning abruptly and moving away from him.
"Don't you dare call me that," she said in anger. She clenched her fists and glared at him, but his expression remained the same, just as always even in the past. Blank. Seeing that familiar uncaring look on him, it aroused her anger even more. "Will it kill you to show some emotions?" She yelled but was careful not to be too loud.
"I am sorry," he said.
"Anyone would find it really hard to believe that you are with the way you are right now, you know that?" Nyx said. She strode towards the window and stared outside. She didn't want to look at him or even at the mirror anymore because his reflection was also on that.
"But you are different, you know I mean it," he said and drew closer to her. He stood right behind her and then wrapped his hands around her. "I am sorry I have been away for far too long, and now you belong to another," he pressed a kiss on that mark on her neck and she involuntarily shivered. "Tell me, Little Bunny, are you happy with your current marriage?" he asked, although he could sense the huge distance between her and her groom even on this very night that should have been their honeymoon. But couples do fight, and human emotions were far too complex for a being like himself to understand fully.
"I am. Do I look sad in any way?" Nyx replied, but he did not react nor did her reply to her words.
"Would you prefer that I leave?" Nyx stiffened at his question. She had wanted to see him for so long, but now that he was here, she could not bring herself to look at him. She was mad, angry even but she didn't want him gone. What if she never gets to see him again.
While in her delima, he took the initiative to breath in her scent, the scent that he had missed for so long and tried hard to forget yet here he was again, indulging himself in her sweet scent and the warmth of her body. His right hand wander into the towel, which covered her as he touched her bare stomach. It was as soft as it was in the past, long before she became the Nyx that she is today. When she was still someone else.
"My lovely little Bunny, would you prefer that I leave? I promise never to come to you again unless you are in danger," he said because she was taking a bit too long to reply. But that, he didn't mind, and he still wanted to touch more of her. His hand moved further upward until he cupped her breast, and she gasped, her eyes shut, and for a moment, they stayed like that.
This was her first time experiencing something like this, but it felt so familiar. It felt as if that touch had been engraved somewhere inside of her, and she was trying to remember when and where. "No, don't," she forced herself to say, successfully snapping out of her trance.
He raised a brow. "You don't want me to leave then?" He asked and gave a gentle squeeze to her breast and she arched her back and leaned further into his chest.
"No, not that. I mean your hand, I am married, Reaper," she said in a breathy tone. Her hand met his in an attempt to pull it away from her breast, but she could not bring herself to push him away like that. "Please," she pleaded so he would do it himself.
"As you wish," he said and took his hand off her breast but spun her around and hugged her.
"I am sorry," Nyx apologized even though she did nothing wrong. She felt it was wrong to stop him. To push him away like this, but she had to. "I am sorry."
"I will leave, but I will be nearby. I won't go as far as I did before or take as long as I did to return to you," He whispered to her. "Little Bunny, I want you to be happy with your union with him, or I will come back here to take you. You have always been mine, don't forget that."
"Reaper…." Nyx felt heartbroken that he agreed to leave her again although he said he would be nearby, it wouldn't be the same as having him right there with her. A tear trickled down her cheek and felt her heart caved in.
"I am only lending you to him so that you will lead a normal human life, one that you deserve, my little one. Be happy with your fellow human, in this life," he said as he concluded and let go of her.
His words were like a bucket of cold water that was dumped on her. Bluntly pointing out the fact she was a human and he was not. She had grown from childhood into adulthood, but his appearance never changed. He was still the same, just like when she first met him at the age of five. Now, she is 23-years old, but he never aged a day. She pulled away from him and stared into his eyes, those eyes, tempting and entrancing, they were still the same, deep and piercing as if they could see into one's soul but she felt very comfortable whenever she looked into them and found them looking back at her. Her eyes moved to his dark hair, and not even a single strand had changed colour. He was still perfect. Inhumanely perfect.
"What if… what I want to go with you?"
