Lunar Academy even had it's own private park for the male and female students of the school. It was called Lunar Park; massive open fields, plenty of benches and picnic tables, MooMoo's which were these giant cute balls of fluff with horns on their heads, tails and were covered in black and green spots. They would always say "Moo Moo." as they bounced around. MooMoo's were also the source of milk and steak for the people of this planet, they reproduce fast so it was an abundant resource to the students here.
This looked like the perfect place to gather information and not be bothered by other students— Mason looked around for a place that is further away from other Commander's and Valkyrie. He spotted a nice big tree on a hilltop with plenty of shade and no ears would be able to listen to them have a conversation.
"Perfect this looks like a good spot." said Mason.
"Okay Mason what did you want to know?" asked Mihara.
"Tell me what happened to all the men— why are there so few of us here and so many women."
"I understand. Long ago— there was an invasion called Oblivion where humans and gods fought together against a force that was greater than theirs. Many believed it was an alien force of unknown origin. That is it not true, at least that is what my mother told me. It was led by one man that everyone calls The Ghost. He led a massive army of Valkyrie against us and ended up almost winning. However it is said he fell to the blade of Amaterasu, during The Battle of The Black Dragon. No one really knows if he is dead or alive, the Goddesses continue to say he is dead but my mother always thought that was a lie, she thinks he is just hiding, recovering, waiting for his chance to attack once again."
As Mihara continues to tell the story— they suddenly get interrupted by someone who jumps into their conversation.
"Sup Mace."
"Oh hey Mash where you been?"
"Oh you know me shooting my shots and um...failing."
"I see. Anyway, want to join us? By the way, this girl here is Mihara."
"Oh hey nice to meet you!" Mash gives her a firm handshake.
"Nice to meet the friend of the Commander." she said with a smile.
Mash asked what they were talking about and Mason explained the situation to Mash. He just nodded and sat next to them.
"Hey Mihara could you tell us about the Commanders and Valkyrie then?" Mash said with eagerness. He specifically wanted to know because he kept getting turned down by the girls in the school.
"Of course! Let's see... The Commander is a male human who commands the battlefield and gives orders to his Valkyrie to ensure victory against their enemies. The Valkyrie are all female warriors of unparalleled might who attack their enemies while defending their leaders the Commanders. The reason for this is because humans are weak compared to us but the humans have something we Valkyrie need. That is Mana. In this place Mana is everything it allows us to heal, to keep going and to unleash powerful spells and abilities. We take 1 point of Mana from our Commander each time we use Magic, or Ability. The Commander's Mana recharges everyday at midnight— so there is no need to worry if he runs out during a battle. You could say we share a symbiotic relationship in a way but the way I see it; together we make a team, who helps one another!"
"Oh is that right. That is not the way I see it."
A tall man, in a tank top, black wild hair and smoking a cigar comes up to them with a smirk on his face. "You know what I see when I look at other Commanders? A bunch of cowards always hiding behind women." There is someone standing behind the man which looks like a Valkyrie. Her Hair is always black, Black lipstick, wearing a black outfit and Black steel toe boots— she kind of looked like a goth girl. She might be his Valkyrie considering she just arrived with him.
"Hey fox girl." the man points at Mihara.
"Y-Yes!"
"Are these guys bothering you?" The guy begins to crack his knuckles— looks like the man was ready for a fight— he came for a brawl.
"Oh no not at all! These Commanders are very nice people!"
"Alright then but I am keeping an eye on you two." the man give Mason and Mash a dirty look and headed off somewhere else.
"What just happened Mace?" asked Mash.
"I don't know." said Mason scratching his head.
The Valkyrie that was with him sighed and planted her hand on her face for a few seconds before speaking to them. "I am sorry about that Commanders, he tends to do this a lot, don't mind him though, he has a good heart, he just needs to learn to stop doing stuff like this, anyway have a nice day everyone." After bowing her head to them she went to follow the guy.
"Anyway, That must be the reason why Valkyrie don't like us very much we don't have much Mana." Mash looked more disappointed than ever before.
"You still have a chance Mash, all it takes is a bit of training and when you level up your Mana Pool count will increase! I however have 0 I don't believe mine will go higher than that."
"You have n-no mana!" Mihara was surprised when she heard Mason say that.
"Oh yeah I have none apparently." said Mason.
"No sorry I didn't mean to say it in a bad way. You are just a very kind Commander I didn't think you would have none. In a way we are not so different."
"Huh?"
"Oh nothing."
Mash let Mason know not to worry about it and told him maybe if he reaches level 1 his Mana Pool count would always increase. Mason agreed but truth is, he just didn't care if had mana or not this whole Commander and Valkyrie business was of no interest to Mason, what he really wanted were answers to his existence here and why he can't remember anything. After they had a nice chat together— Mash said his farewells for the day and decided to try his luck with the girls again. Mason and Mihara headed back inside the school.
He needed to learn more so he told Mihara where the schools library is located at she showed him on the map, thanked her and headed over to it. Lunar Library was a pretty big place with millions of books, the librarian was sitting at a desk reading a book. Mason asked her for a few books about history of the world she continued to read while listening to him, she pulled out a wand and a bunch of books flow over to her and landed on the desk she was sitting at.
"Here you go Commander." said the librarian.
"Oh uh thank you." said Mason.
Mason went to an unoccupied table and carried the books she brought him— he needed more knowledge about this world because knowledge is power. The books were really intriguing as the more he read the more he wanted to know. Some of the stuff Mihara was talking about like The Commander and Valkyrie were here. One book even stated The Ghost guy was really dead and his body was taken to discreet location to be destroyed.
Some books were even talking about how valuable men are in this society even the ugly and old ones are seen as top tier prizes to women here. However there is no mention about female humans just the Valkyrie. Strange there are even detailed descriptions of human males such as the anatomy and biological needs and wants of men— just not a single thing about human women. This is something Mason would need to ask Mihara tomorrow and to be cautious speaking about it in front of other Valkyrie just in case.
