Chapter 31 - THE WORLD’S HORN

Centshuu had wanted to say something about the Foci but he ate his words. Instead, he grunted and said "Seems like we've gotten to a sensitive topic"

Bell frowned at him.

"Fuck you, Centshuu! Sensitive? Me? You wish. Before I get mad, weren't you going to tell me about—as you said— how our world became the way it is? Well, I'm all ears so go ahead before I lose patience and interest— wait! Was the teachings of those fanatics what you were going to say? If it was, then know that I'm going to kick you and your pack of perverts out of my establishment. I'm not playing" Bell threatened.

Centshuu chuckled, waving his hands to dismiss her notions.

"Nah, that's not what I was going to say. Like I said, we both share the same sentiment about the majority of what those nut jobs teach so you have nothing to worry about" he said.

Bell, with her skeptical demeanor, looked at Centshuu from top to bottom multiple times then she smacked her tongue and said "We better be on the same page"

Centshuu smiled.

"Don't worry, we are" He reassured.

Bell grunted and said "Alright then, go ahead"

"Thank you. Anyway, what I'm about to tell you is the history of the world starting from nine hundred and twenty-five years ago" Centshuu said and Bell changed the orientation of her crossed legs again.

Her interest was extremely piqued.

"Nine hundred and twenty-five years ago, the sky split open, and from it came a rock so massive that it spanned the entire borders of what is now called the capital city. When it appeared, everyone who witnessed thought it was going to be the end of the world, but then, what nobody expected was that its appearance was going to change the world forever" Centshuu said.

"What do you mean?" Bell asked.

"The Rock or like it's called, The World's Horn, didn't fall and destroy everything and everyone within its reach. Instead, it stopped mid-fall and suspended itself in the sky above the city. A couple of years after that happened, the gravity anomalies emerged and different streams of gravity started shooting in all directions. A couple of years after that, chunks of The World's Horn called Splinters started to break off, following the streams to different locations until they got to a point in the sky and stayed there. A couple of years after that, doorways on the Splinters started opening, and from them escaped mystical creatures like the Ferallith into ours. These creatures used the streams as their path to scattered locations where they caused havoc and—" Centshuu said but Bell interrupted him.

"And it would have been the end of mankind if The Foci didn't start popping into existence and with their might adverted what would have been a terrible situation," Bell said and Centshuu's eyebrow raised.

"What? I get clients from different parts of the continent, including the capital city. I might not be formally educated but they are and sometimes I ask about interesting topics. At first, I didn't believe that there was a city-wide rock hovering in the sky, ready to kill everyone underneath. However, after multiple sources corroborated the story, I had no choice but to believe" Bell said, making Centshuu press his tear ducks and sigh.

"This is why I wanted to know exactly how deep your knowledge is before I said anything," Centshuu complained and Bell shrugged.

"Doesn't matter. There are some things you said that I never asked my client, because we had other things to focus on, and those were news to me so thanks for that. As for this Ferallith, you were talking about, what does it look like and why is it so important?" Bell said.

"Well, it looks like—" Centshuu said but was cut off when the door behind him was forced open.

One of the girls who work in the Velvet Serpent rushed in, interrupting their conversation.

/"Madam Bell!"\ The distraught girl said.

Bell swiftly took her attention to the girl who stood beside Centshuu and she asked /"What is it? What's so important that you have no problem interrupting my conversation?"\

The girl panted and then hurriedly said /"It's the main hall. A fight has broken out"\

/"Huh?"\ Surprised at the news, Bell said.

While the girl and Bell talked, Centshuu grimaced.

He looked at Ripply and asked "What are they saying? They're speaking Hephsi, aren't they?"

Ripply nodded.

Suddenly, Bell looked at Centshuu and said "My gosh Centshuu, all these years and you still haven't learned how to speak The King's tongue. Seriously, what would you do without Ripply being with you?"

Centshuu looked at her and with a smirk said "The King's tongue? Pardon me but that THING is no king of mine"

"Is that so?" Bell asked and Centshuu shrugged.

"I said what I said. Anyway, what's your staff saying? Why is she so panicked?" He asked.

"If you'd like to know, beautiful Markieth, who just started working here and so doesn't know how rude it is to interrupt me when I'm in a meeting, interrupted our conversation to inform us that a fight has broken out in the main hall," Bell said and Centshuu creased his forehead.

"A fight? Between who— wait! Us? Why would she want to tell us and not just you?" Centshuu asked and Bell frowned.

"Well, Centshuu, that's because the fight is between one of my customers and your pack of perverts," Bell said and Centshuu's eyebrows furrowed.
