Evan was enamored with Holly from the moment he laid eyes on her. She was beyond beautiful in his eyes. Beyond what he could ever deserve. But now because of his connections, he was able to speak to the goddess.
"So… what do you think of the party?" Evan asked.
"These parties aren't really my style." Holly replied.
The two of them sat next to each other at the in-home bar listening to the piano performance of an elderly gentleman who had known Holly since she was little. Christopher always invited him to make sure the music was on key. However, today for whatever reason, whether it be because he lacked practice or just woke up on the wrong side of bed, his performance was a little off. It felt dry and every once in a while he'd play a note so dreadfully off that you'd wonder if he ever really knew anything about music at all.
"Seems like parties aren't really his style either" Evan laughed.
"I wonder if it's cuz he's nervous. My dad can push people pretty hard." Holly said.
"Yeah, no kidding! The guy is always working me to the bone…" Evan stood up, "Wanna see something cool?"
"Go for it." Holly replied.
Evan made his way over to the gentleman playing the piano. After a moment of bickering, the man got up and surrendered the instrument to Evan. He began to play. The song that he played was familiar to Holly. It was a song by the name of "Tomorrow's winter", her passed brother's favorite song. The notes seemed to dance off the keys filling the air with a peaceful nostalgia. Holly was astounded. Evan was a master of his craft. Just like Steven would've been if he had lived to see this day. There was a gentle feeling that Holly felt around Evan, one that in a way reminded her of her older brother, who would stop at nothing to keep her safe. Holly's eyes were filled with tears begging to be let out. However, that was not a pleasure she deserved, after all, she came to this party to kill him.
After Evan finished playing his melody, he returned to Holly's side, taking his seat at the bar yet again.
"So?" Evan asked with an air of cockiness.
"I guess it was okay!" Holly said in a poor attempt to mask how she really felt.
"Just okay? I gotcha…" Evan looked around at all the men in suits who had been invited to the party just to be decoration, "ya know, I can't stand them. All these businessmen who wouldn't know art if it hit them in the face. My music is amazing, but most of my time is spent essentially just running errands for your dad. Honestly, I'm not crazy about the guy."
"Me neither! He's honestly the worst!" Holly replied.
"Come on! Don't say that! Not about your own dad!" Evan said.
"Well, it's true. I don't think he's ever really seen me as me. I've always been just a trophy to him." Holly replied.
"That's too bad… Hey, you wanna head out of here? We can head to my place if you want? That way you won't have to think about him." Evan suggested with a gentle smile.
"Won't he get upset if you leave?" Holly asked.
"Nah, he told me I can take you with me as long as there's no funny business."
"I'm twenty-one years old! I'm not a child!" Holly laughed.
Evan held out his hand and Holly took it. The two of them went outside and got in their cars and Holly drove behind Evan until they got to his house.
"It's not much, but it's something!" Evan said, turning the key to his front door.
His house was old and clearly didn't cost him a whole lot. It was something of a fixer upper. But that was fine by him, he was just glad to have some place to stay. When they walked in the living room, Holly pushed Evan over. She was much more intoxicated than he was, and she wanted it right now.
"Hey, remember! No funny business!"
"Remember what I said, I'm an adult!"
Holly pushed Evan over and kissed him passionately. For a little while he went along with it, before he gently pushed her off.
"Hey, I'm sorry. I'm not ready yet." Evan said.
"What?"
"It's just… we just met. I like you… but…" Evan paused.
Holly was angered. She didn't think he'd be such a prude. She started undoing his belt when he pushed her away.
"I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to ask you to leave."
Holly was appalled.
"You want me, don't you?"
"Go."
The room was silent.
"Okay…" Holly replied.
Holly stood up and took off. She drove straight to Andrew's house. She had her own key, so she just walked straight in. There she found Andrew lying on the bed like a corpse.
"You look like shit." Holly said.
Andrew looked up at her, his eyes hollow.
"I did it… I killed another human being."
