PROLOGUE
AN OLD CASTLE IN AN UNKNOWN REALM
A man wearing a plain open chest black silk robe and plain black silk trousers was walking towards the throne room. He sat on the huge gold chair as a hawk flew in. It turned into a beautiful redhead woman with green eyes as it landed.
''Lord Stefnir, everything has been done as you asked. Most of them agreed to do it because of the power presented. Unfortunately, I had to coerce others through special means. Some are like zombies now; their bodies are deformed. Others wander aimlessly like lost dolls. They all listen only to my voice.''
''Any failures?''
''Yes, some people weren't moved by my promises and were strong enough to ward off my mental attack and coercion.''His black eyes looked at her lazily with a hint of bloodlust.
"Rebecca, you are getting rusty. You could have threatened them or use their loved ones to coerce them.''
''Some of them chose to die, some had placed a powerful magic on their loved ones keeping them safe from threats and any kind of danger.''
"A magic too powerful for you to handle? Do not make me regret choosing and training you.''
"I apologize for my incapability, Master. It will not happen again.'' She begged nervously.
Stefnir scoffed as he examined the small dark ball of flame he summoned.
''What about the girl I asked you to get me?''
At that question, Rebecca flinched and bowed her head. she did not dare to look him in the eyes.
''Her parents died saving her and she managed to escape. I barely managed to escape with my life.''
He threw the dark ball of flames at her. The force of the fire threw her backwards and she landed with a loud thump at the opposite
wall creating a cracked dent on the wall.
"I do not care if you managed to escape half dead or half alive. When the girl was born, I asked you to bring her to me and you told me that she and her parents somehow managed to escaped. This time you are telling me that her parents died saving her. That is your excuse, how pathetic. I can see now that I trained you in vain. You cannot even measure up to your dear cousin in power. The punishment I gave you last time probably was not sever enough. Looks like I have to do without you my dear.'' He said angrily as he stood up and walk towards her. His overwhelming dark aura and bloodlust caused her to cough up blood.
"No Master! Please! I can do better! I will do better! Please, I will do anything, I can do anything as long as I work hard by your side."
He grabbed her chin and smiled sinfully. He kissed her roughly in the lips to like all the blood there. Rebecca, despite her fear, could not help but feel a stab of pleasure. With her chin still in his hand, Stefnir hit her head harshly on the wall.
"Get out of my sight. You stink."
Rebecca knew that he hated the scentof her blood, because her blood was not what he wanted to drink. She felt the familiar rush of pain and hatred. She wanted to kill her, badly. Rebecca rushed out of the room feeling a complicated twist of fear, anger, pain and hatred.
"What a disgusting creature." Stefnir muttered to himself.
'It is good this way. They will meet sooner or later. Let him feel the pain of loving and losing just as he has numerous times already.' Stefnir laughed maniacally as he thought to himself.
He stopped laughing and walked to the huge French window. He opened it to see the dark sky and he revelled in the power of the night. In the intoxicating power of darkness. He had been working hard in preparation of the destined war. Training beyond and above his limit. Gathering and training soldiers. He found it funny.
He, the harbinger of death had to train hard, but it could not be helped. That man was very powerful and the effects of the curse must have worn of already.
'No matter.' he thought to himself as he stared at the dark vastness of the barren land, where a few houses were built haphazardly.
'We will meet again soon and this time, I intend to make you mine.'
He looked up the sky as he muttered her name.
"Melissa."
