Chereads / The Fiery Storm / Chapter 2 - Chapter One

Chapter 2 - Chapter One

"Huh, where am I?" A pair of eyes opened revealing the emerald like orbs within. One eye was slowly changing to a deep red colour…. Like ruby.

A lady was seen in the middle of a forest dressed in a red flowing gown, it was tightened at the waist with a sash. It was a long sleeved gown with a high collar, tight at the top but slightly free below. Her waist length black hair was slowly changing to a silver colour which would have looked weird on any other person but it just made her look exotic. Her arched black brows and high pointed nose exuded nobility, her pouty cupid-bow shaped cherry lips showed a cuteness that made her irresistible. Her phoenix shaped eyes looked lazy but sharpened immediately she noticed her surroundings. Her long lashes flickered as she sat up, her long slender finger reached out to touched her head. She looked like an exotic witch and nothing like a vampiress.

"Oh, so there is no bump.'' She brought her hand down as she looked at her finger nails that were painted a pale pink. It lookedso out of place with her persona. She stood up lazily and stretched. She looked at her surroundings to try to understand where she was.

'Doesn't look like any time space I've ever been in. It almost feels like a fairy tale … tall trees, beautiful fiery leaves, clear blue sky and' she looked down and saw her black suede boots amid beautiful short green grasses 'even the grasses look so green'.

She started walking as she thought about how she landed here. No matter how hard she thought about it, all she could remember was a fiery storm….

"Aha, that's it! I was enjoying my vacation on earth when suddenly, a fiery storm appeared faraway from where I was. No one seemed to notice it and it caused no harm so I thought that it was all in my head, it happens like that most times anyways. None the less, I went into my hotel suite after a relaxing day in the beach in the Bahamas. After taking my bath and dressing I felt an impending sense of danger only to see the fiery storm making its way to my apartment. No one seemed to notice it and it didn't hurt anyone. Who knew that it would sweep me away when I was about to go into another time space'. She angrily punchedthe tree - as she mused aloud - in anger. The tree turned to dust immediately.

'Damn, she thought, looks like I hit it too hard, I need to calm down and think of a way to leave this place'. According to the light in the area, she could tell that it was still morning. She kept walking until she walked out of the forest and into a meadow. There was a cottage in the field and a shed about two kilometres away from the cottage. There was a brown wooden fence around the house and the cottage. The fence wasn't tall and she would have jumped in if she wasn't wary of her surroundings.

She opened the latch and walked in. She noticed that when she walked in there was more unused space and it was quite a distance from the cottage. she could see a section where the cows were grazing, another section where the horses were resting and the pigs were running about happily as they played with one another. At least that was what it looked like to her. She walked for a while till she stopped at the front of the cottage. It has been three hours since I appeared in this time space, she thought to herself. She knocked on the door.

"Who is knocking?" The voice soundedso beautiful and enchanting that she, who had heard so many voices from different time spaces, couldn't help but be enchanted.

"My name is Melissa Adams. I am a stranger in need of assistance.''

There was silence for close to three minutes and just as Melissa was ready to give up hope and break open the door, the door was opened. A beautiful looking woman with a noble bearing stood looking at her with a kind smile on her face.

"Come in.'' The lady said as she moved to the side and gestured for Melissa to walk in. She walked in after Melissa and closed the door behind her. Melissa looked around her and noticed the simple appearance of the living room she was in.

"Please sit.'' The lady said as she sat down. "What would you like to drink? Tea or water?"

"I'll have water please, thank you.'' Melissa replied as she was quite thirsty after walking for so long. The lady came back with the water and sat down.

"My name is Margaret, Margaret Harlequin of Palel. So what brings you to this parts Miss Adams.''

Melissa couldn't possibly tell her that she was brought here by a fiery storm, she doubted that Margaret would believe her anyways. So, she told the only truth she could tell.

"I can't really remember, all I can remember is that I was swept away by a storm and I ended up here.''

"Really, that's strange. There have been no cases of storm here.''

Melissa shrugged as she sipped her water and thought to herself; of course it wasn't a natural phenomenon.

"What kind of storm was it?" Melissa looked up quickly and met the woman's knowing smile.

"A fiery storm." Melissa replied nonchalantly with narrowed eyes and Margaret's response left her in shock.

"Ah. As I thought. You are Melissa Adams indeed; you look a lot like her."

"Excuse me?"

"I knew your parents, I'm sorry for your loss. Your mom told me that you would look more like her when you grow up. She was actually right."

"You knew my parents." Melissa asked, bemused .

"Yes, I am a vampire after all."
