Chapter 25 - Tell Me About My Son [Part 1]

"Huff... Huff..."

Gasping for air as he stared at the screen in front of him, Adrian was only able to curb his urge to curse his System since he knew it was futile.

Adrian spared the notification a glance before closing it. Controlling his irritation, he opened another notification and stared at it.

It was the notification that put him through all this trouble, the quest he always wanted but never got till an hour ago. And it was due to him completing it that he was in his current state.

[Daily Quest:

Completely Drain your Mana: (130/130)

[Status: Completed]

[Reward: +300 Experience Points]

"It isn't worth it," Adrian muttered as he laughed dryly. Draining himself completely of Mana for a measly 300 EXP just wasn't worth it in Adrian's eyes. Apart from the tiredness that will plague him when he's done, he'd strain his Mana Veins thereby making them ache him.

But he wasn't complaining as it was better than not leveling up at all. As the saying goes, Beggars can't be choosers since he basically begged his System for a quest and that was what he got.

Hoping that he should have regained his stamina in about thirty minutes, Adrian closed his eyes as he tried not to think about what would befall him if he broke his agreement with Liz.

While Adrian was chilling underneath his favorite Cherry Blossom, the same couldn't be said about the King as he had a slightly worried expression on his.

The old fart had his right hand resting on the arm of his throne and his cheek resting on his knuckles and his left hand laying on the other arm of his throne. He had an aura of worry hovering about him and slight concern spread across his face.

The King soon changed his position as he rapidly tapped his foot on the ground beneath his feet. Still bothered by whatever was on his mind.

You may ask what could make a man who didn't give a fuck about his children worried to this extent and the answer was something that usually makes men worry. His wife- I mean his Concubine was in labor.

Yes, he may not give a fuck about his children —just like how he had shown when Adrian was kidnapped— but his Wives and Concubines were an entirely different matter. They were the people he had fun with and even if he didn't care about the lives of his Concubines just like his children he'd feel at a loss if they died.

They were his assets and if they die it'd be problematic but he'd get over it since all his Concubines were his playthings and they could be replaced just that it'll take a while before the new ones accept their fate.

"She won't die yet." He muttered to himself with his eyes closed. He took a deep breath and then continued. "After all she did promise that we'd have three days of fun after her child is about a month."

And yes, the bastard was a wretched old perv who thinks with his lower half most of the time. In short an incompetent King who was basically a figurehead who listened to his Wives and Advisers words.

"I wonder where that little bastard is." The King's previous worry ceased to exist as he stared in front of him with narrowed eyes.

"It's not like his life matters to me anyway." He closed his eyes before resting on his chair. Not wanting to waste too many brain cells on Aurora's child. When he didn't even know the child's name he couldn't worry over its life right?

"Call Alistar to my presence!" He ordered after opening his eyes. Even though he didn't care about the child, he at least had to act like he did and the first step was asking about the child's whereabouts from the person who rescued it.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

The Knight who stood beside the golden double doors bowed till his body was parallel to the ground before walking away with his head towards the king. Although he knew how useless the King was, he wasn't foolish enough to disobey the King's orders or not show respect.

Watching as the double doors got closed with a stoic expression on his face, the King closely observed the guard. He didn't care about what they thought about him but their respect was a must unless he'd have to use his authority to punish them.

"Greetings Your Majesty." The figure of an elegant man with medium-length black hair and emerald green eyes appeared in front of the King. It hadn't taken him up to five minutes before the Knight left for him to make an appearance a clear show of his strength.

Standing up from his bowed position, Alistar's features immediately turned cold as he said. "You sent for me."

His voice carried a mix of coldness and disdain as it traveled through the air. If not for it was a basic courtesy to bow in front of the King, Alistar wouldn't have done it even if they decided to parade him naked.

"I don't have all day you know." Alistar continued placing his hands in his pockets with disrespect lacing his voice. In his eyes, the King wasn't worthy of his respect.

The bastard was a womanizer who used the gimmick of being King to fulfill his messed up desires, a dumbass who preferred his slutty Concubines over his children, and a retard who couldn't make decisions for himself. To Alistar, the only thing the bastard had going for himself was the regal aura he always carried.

"You dare!!" A Knight who stood beside the King's throne roared aloud after seeing Alistar's blatant disrespect.

Was the Knight that loyal to his duties? Of course not the bastard just wanted to gain the King's favor and to escape punishment if the King decides to punish him for being passive.

"It's enough." Raising his hand, the King added. "I'll talk to him myself."

"Yes, Your Majesty." Forced to swallow his words after hearing the King's decision, the Knight placed his sword in its sheath before taking a step back.

'Useless scum.' Alistar thought as he gazed at the Knight who stood beside the useless bastard. Alistar was dead sure that the Knight knew he couldn't beat him even if Alistar gave him a handicap.

"Cough..." Lightly coughing to get Alistar's attention, the King said calmly after seeing Alistar look at him. "Tell me about my son."

His words sent a wave of surprise through the throne room as no one would believe the King would ask about one of his children.
