Chapter 27 - Meeting Arcania's Ruler [Part 1]

"The first step before I begin teaching you is to test your Affinity," Rebecca said as she took a sip of the coffee in her hands.

Aware that if she didn't know his Elemental Affinity it would be pointless for her to teach him, Adrian breathed on his palms before rubbing them together. Looking into her eyes, he asked. "But how are you going to do that?"

A hundred percent sure that it would involve some sort of crystal ball, Adrian smiled within himself as he pictured their shocked expression when they saw he had two Affinities.

Not replying to Adrian's question, Rebecca pulled out a smooth transparent orb from thin air before taking another sip of her coffee and saying. "It would tell us your Affinity after you've placed your palm on it."

"So are we doing it now?" Adrian said, barely being able to suppress his excitement as he looked at the smooth orb.

"No," Rebecca replied, having the orb vanish she added. "Sis Liz said she wants to know your Affinities."

"Okay," Adrian replied before closing his eyes. Filling his mind with different things in other to pass the time.

Not wanting Adrian to think too deeply, Rebecca narrowed her eyes as she asked him. "Have you tested your Affinity before or met a Mage?"

"Huh? Oh, I've neither met a Mage nor done an Affinity test." Pulled out of his thoughts, it took Adrian a while to answer her question. Although he found it a little strange for her to ask him that question, Adrian still replied honestly.

"I see." Rebecca closed her eyes after hearing Adrian's answer.

To the best of her knowledge, it was almost bordering impossible for people to be able to use Spells without knowing their Elemental Affinity and if Adrian could do it he was a once-in-a-lifetime prodigy as only one in a million were born with Innate Spells.

Innate Spells unlike other Spells are obtained from the moment someone is born. Sometimes it might align with his Elemental Affinity other times they may be opposites like his Affinity could be Fire and his Innate Spell could be related to water. It gave people an advantage over their peers since it would be stronger than the original spell or sometimes it might be a Spell unique to that individual.

"I guess I underestimated him." She muttered with closed eyes, taking another sip of the coffee in her hands.

Barely hearing what she had said, Adrian shrugged his shoulder before covering himself in a blanket. It had rained heavily overnight making the air cold.

Just as Adrian was about to sleep after covering himself for about fifteen minutes, he heard Liz's voice in his ear. "Wake up Adrian, it's time for breakfast."

Sighing after hearing her words, Adrian forced himself to his feet before slowly moving towards the dining table with squinted eyes.

"Thanks for the meal," Adrian said after yawning, rubbing his eyes to get rid of the sleepiness that plagued him.

Unceremoniously picking up the spoon beside his bowl, Adrian began eating the meat and vegetable soup Liz had prepared —the perfect counter to their cold surrounding.

Done with their food, Rebecca didn't waste a second as she snapped her fingers —making the transparent orb repair in her hand.

Giving the orb to Adrian, Rebecca said after seeing the confusion on his face. "Pour your Mana into it."

Adrian nodded in understanding before releasing his Mana into the sphere making it glow in a white light. It wasn't that Adrian didn't know what to do he acted confused so that she wouldn't be suspicious if she saw him pouring his Mana into it.

About two seconds later, the white glow was gradually replaced by a bright blue light with what seemed to be a few drops of water appearing on the Orb's surface.

"Peak grade Water Affinity," Rebecca said with shock evident in her voice as she looked at the brightly glowing orb in front of her. Despite being shocked, Rebecca was still able to remain calm and not yell at the top of her lungs after seeing Adrian's Affinity rating.

"I knew you were extremely talented!" Liz had excitement and happiness around her after seeing Adrian's Affinity result. Happy that the child she had raised didn't turn out to be a dud.

But just as she was about to give him a hug to show her excitement, the bluish light that was being radiated by the orb gradually receded and was replaced by a vibrant green glow that had what looked like green energy waves around it.

"He has two Peak Grade Elements!" With every ounce of her previous calmness gone, Rebecca exclaimed in shock.

As for Liz, she had her hands frozen from shock and her eyes widened to the max as she looked at the orb in Adrian's hands.

'I knew I was extremely talented.' Feeling smug in his heart, Adrian enjoyed feasting on the shocked expression the duo had but the fact that only two could witness the start of his legend left a bad taste in his mouth.

'Something like this should be viewed by the whole world.' Adrian said to himself, making a mental note that the next time he'd be doing something like this there'd be a bunch of people to witness it.

'But come to think of it, why did I bother using my only Spell if I could make her shocked with just this?' Adrian asked himself after looking at Rebecca's shocked face for a second time. Honestly, he felt like jumping out a window after realizing that he had gone through all that pain for no reason.

But who else could he blame apart from himself as he wasn't able to check out other means and decided that casting his Spell was the only way.

'I guess I'll make a mental note to think things through.' Adrian thought. Heaving a sigh, he stopped supplying Mana and stared at the faces of the two ladies in front of him.

Having learned his lesson that the first answer that comes to mind wasn't always the best, Adrian didn't notice the slight changes in their environment.
