Chapter 1 - Reincarnation

My name is Ryan... born and raise from a humble family. I lived my life plentiful and married to a loving wife. Then, I died.

It was an accident, trying to save people as usual and all. But I guess my luck just went and run out, seemingly burdened by my frequent near-death experience.

Well... I guess that's it.

Yes, I left my wife and children, but I have left them with good fortune.

I am after all, a business man with passive income. So even if I died, truly, they will still continuously gain an amount of money from my inheritance.

Since I was a child, I have fully accepted my death, of old age or just a random accident. Because, that is how life suppose to work. You die either way.

Or so I thought.

"Your hypocrisy disgusts me, you never knew how to act in kindness!"

She said... and yet I smiled despite the judgment I was given.

To live a life of burden, in a constant suffering, where death is always by my side.

"Mikael, what the actual fuck do you think you're doing?! Get back to fucking work!"

Painful. The kick sent me flying, causing me to damage the barrels upon impact.

I was in deep pain since I was sent to this world.

Constant beating, overwork, hunger.

I am in a child's body, that of a 10 years old, I just wish for them to understand that this is frail.

If only I was in my body, I would carry them and travel across miles if they want to.

I can escape since I am not actually a slave restricted by some sort of magical collar. I am the child of a villager whom I had to leave for a few pennies due to... what was my mother saying again?

Ah... right.

[Sickness.]

I wasn't sold forever or anything, it's just that I am some sort of loan and will be returned as soon as my family managed to bring themselves back to their normal life.

Even Father Percius said so, the priest in my village.

Despite my modern knowledge, I quickly understand it... and accepted it.

It was the way of life in this world, it's how it works. And I am but a mere child, an ordinary young, frail child with no actual power to change anything.

Father Percius says otherwise, but he is kind so he may be trying to console me at that time.

But... I am worried.

The owner of mine keep saying how I will become an official slave if my family are yet to pay them for the next years or so.

Being a slave means that I will not be able to see them again, nor will I be able to save the people here.

I just hope mother get well soon enough...

"I told you to get back to work, didn't I you stupid fucking brat!"

A kick hit my left chest, sending me yet to another barrels.

"That's your fourth barrel, know that your work will increase further if you keep destroying things!"

"I know I know, I'll fix it."

"Hmmm!"

I returned to work and started cleaning the backyard of this great inn.

They call it ForeDragon Inn since a dragon labyrinth resides nearby. It has big spaces, for dining and rooms for rest. There's also the basement where we sleeps. It is not comfy, but it is bearable enough to withstand the cold even in winter as long as there's fire that keeps us cool.

"You know, Mikael." As I sweep among the dead leaf that fell from the tree, I was tapped by a frail hand on my soldier.

When I turn my face, I saw a blue hair boy the same age as me along with few of the other with slaves collar.

"What is it, Julius? Are you hungry?" I tried to ask the boy since by the look of it, he's pale and skinny, it's troubling.

"Are you a masochist?"

"No. What makes you say that? And how did you know that word? You should stop saying those kind of words you know, it's bad for you." These children, I have come across of those words before, back when I was at my past life, constantly being asked if I was a masochist, but I never understood their intention.

"Of course we know it, we always hear it from the adventurers! And... well, you are always beaten up... actually quite pretty often that you are beaten more than us, the rest of the slaves. I'm starting to think you are into that kind of play."

"Of course not... I am just trying to endure it so it may look like it and I am an airhead you know... so it's natural for me to get beaten oftentimes due to my work negligence."

"There's your deep words again! I cannot understand you! You know what, have fun getting kicked!"

"Hehe... wait... Julius, and guys. Do you want to play?"

"Play what!?" They are seemingly confused and infuriated by my enthusiastic self, but despite that, I handed them a ball I was secretly making.

"Here... it's called a ball."

"Huhhhhh!" All of the children gasp in excitement.

"Ball?! We know its a ball! Where did you get this!?"

"I made it, hmp!" I give my chest a nice gentle slap as I stood there, prideful of my own action.

"B-but..."

"I know I know... I will do your jobs for you so go play elsewhere fast! I will keep master at bay!"

"Mikael... THANK YOUUU!"

"That's right, learn how to thank people. In that way, you can gain friends!" All of them run towards me and gave me hug, then immediately after, they run towards the hole of the fence to play elsewhere.

Soon, I started cleaning the yard, then afterwards, I trimmed the grasses, watered the plant, and refill the unaffected barrels with waters.

I also gave myself a nice drink from the well after that, and then continued my work.
