Chapter 21 - CEMETERY

Selena sighed as she looked out the window, they had been driving for almost an hour now. Selena knew she had been to this part of town before but that was a long time ago, probably the first year she joined the agency.

"We are here boss" The driver said as he stopped the vehicle.

Selena sighed in relief, she looked out the window and it then occurred to her where they were. But why?

"Why did you take me to the cemetery?" Selena ask as she looked at him, she looked out the windows again, she could clearly see the inscription on the rocks.

"Let's go" Damien said as he got down from the car, he opened the doors and waited for her get down from the car before he closed them.

Selena looked at him as she waited for him to say something but Damien's face was neutral. Selena sighed as she slowly walked in, she could feel heat well up in her eyes but she closed them and took a deep breath. She knew this day would come but Selena was not prepared for it, to say good bye to her mother was something she had dreaded since day one.

"Come with me" Selena said as she turned to him. "I....I .....em...I don't want to go in alone" Selena said stuttering.

Damien didn't know what to do now, he could see in her eyes that she was at the brick of tears right now. Damien just gave a nod as he held her hand, he had been to the cemetery yesterday after talking with Diana.

Selena sighed as she took the first step, she closed her eyes and tried not to look at the names engraved on the gravestone, Selena remembered something her mother would tell her.

"Mum would always tell me not to look at the names encgraved on the gravestone, she said they would give me nightmares" Selena said followed by a small laugh.

Damien gazed at her and he could see the lonesome look on her face, though her eyes were closed, he could see tears rolling down her cheek. Damien was never really good at consoling people but he was trying his best, he gently rubbed her hand as he tries to help.

"We are here" Damien said as he paused. He could tell that the girl was still frozen on the spot. "Selena" Damien called out.

Selena tried to keep herself composed, her eyes welled up with tears as she finally opened them, she looked down and she could see the name engraved on the stone.

More tears rolled down her cheeks as she clinged onto Damien's arm, she had doubted this ever since, she didn't want to believe that her mother was gone. Now she was standing in front of her mother's grave, what was she suppose to do, go angry , cry, when have crying ever solved the problem?

Damien placed his hand around her as he pulled her in, he could hear her silent sobs as she clinged onto his shirt. Damien could feel her body shaking in his arms, this was even worse than yesterday. The whole graveyard was quiet allowing Damien to hear her sobs, for a minute there he thought even the dead could hear her sobs.
