It was a sunny afternoon. Miden had entered his chamber for the first time. A clean room with a calming scent. One that Miden quite enjoyed. He was still quite uncomfortable, arriving late, all of his roommates present. The one that were to be in his squad, Number 7.
He quietly took a seat, all three of the students looking at him as he sat. He was late indeed. He hoped Reo would be with him but he wasn't. Miden was quite sad for that, but he was a equal strange. Just the one that helped a stranger. One that's quite rare among nobels. At least one that Acheron had met.
There was a brief silence between them. No awkward glares were shared as Miden thought would be. Miden did not think much. He was quite calm and adapted to the place. Not very well with people. He had adapted to Zen.
"So..." the human said. "Would you introduce yourself?"
Miden opened his mouth to answer. His name was at the tip of his tounge but he decided not to. He was not planning to keep it hidden but he still thought for a while. He finally made his choice.
"Miden" he said, "Miden Abyssheart."
At the word 'Abyssheart', the demon seemed to jump. He looked into his eyes, for a while at least. It was surprise; or rather, awe.
"Abyssheart." he gulped. A sweat trembled down his neck. It was not one of fear, but one of tension. The tension of a presence. The rest of them looked with the same expression exept one, the Angel.
"Abyssheart. Are you a demon?" said the demon. He was fine dressed. A nobel for certain. One of the southern part of the realm, Miden thought. That's how they dressed.
"Of course" he said.
They glared with a strange surprised. Miden maintained a innocent face. He knew what it was. What they were surprised about.
"Your eyes?" pointed the human. "What's with them? I don't think I've saw a demon with such eyes."
It was a girl. Middn was not sure who she might be. An nobel was Miden's geuss but royalty was not to far. A fine flowing dress.
Miden smiled and then shrugged. He did not want to answer the question and they felt that.
Then again. The demon rose up.
"You said Abyssheart, correct?" he inquired, as if confirming a suspicion. Miden replied with a nod.
"By that do you mean..." he stopped. He took a long pause. "Your son of Pandiron Abyssheart."
He put a strange stress on his name. An magnificent amount of respect and his face was longing for an answer.
Miden did not answer. He smiled.
"The Prince of Kolasi !" exclaimed the human. She did not say it with much of a serious expression. It was not that much of a shock as his presence would've caused in a normal situation. That was a reminder. He was not a prince anymore. Just a student. Nothing more.
"Kolasi, huh?" the Angel reapeted still sitting in the corner of the room. With voice so silent, that's almost a whisper. Long, lush, blond hairs, braided gracefully. Her face did not show. Her hat hid it.
Miden could not geuss what rank she would've belonged to. Her dress was neat. It was not inexpensive but not such a nobel or royal would wear.
The demon bowed and then followed the human.
"I am Vortex Newton." said the human, tough the demon was about to go first. "I am the son of, eorl of Orientem. The eastern part of the Human Realm."
An eorl, Miden thought. He was unaware of the way of human ranking and so did the other demon.
The demon went next.
"I'm of Mavros Katouillou. I'm am the son of the Nobel and Head Chief of the land of Umbraia."
Miden knew. He had once visited the place.
"Of the south?" asked Miden.
"Indeed."
"Do you have a patron God?"
He smiled. Then with a proud face he said,
"I'm a Styxios."
Miden did not think that he would be that. He was a Styxios. That's not more common in the south-eastern part of the realm he belonged to.
Miden nodded. Then he streached his hand to the demon. Mavros was surprised but the accepted it, with such a high honor that it had been for him.
Then he greeted the human the same way. He did not hesitate tough. The way that the demon did.
"I'm Miden Abyssheart." he reapeted. "Nice to meet you all."
Then Miden turned to the corner to look for the Angel. She was gone by then. She did not introduce herself.
______
Miden was roming out on the campus. It was a huge ground as well. No classes were held for the first day. His eyes flew over the academy. What fine architecture he had admired. A breeze flew by, floating Miden's air in the air.
"Miden?" called a voice. The voice was reminiscent. A scence of joy hinted Miden. It was the same ice cold voice that had called him the first time.
"Reo Snacht" replied Miden.
Reo smiled. He looked at Miden with a scence of respect. Miden remained silent.
"What squad are you in?" asked Reo.
"Number 7."
"I'm in Number 1."
"That's good."
"Did you meet your squad members?"
"Of course I did."
Miden looked into Reo's eyes. His silent grey eyes. Suddenly a voice called Reo. One that he did not recognise. A tough voice. Presence of a Demon, Miden felt. But there was more.
Miden looked the direction of the voice. It was not just one person approaching. Besides the Demon, there were two Angels. One nobel, and the second a royal.
"Reo" called the demon, "We've been looking for you."
At this, Miden turned towards the demon. His eyes widened. He had recognized the prince. He did not just how but he knelt on the ground. Then he saluted Miden.
"My Prince" said the demon.
Reo was startled at this command. He had many questions in his mind. The Angel, the one who was nobel, seemed quite surprised as well. The second angel, a girl and royal, seemed to not be surprised.
"Prince?" asked Reo calmly. Miden expected a question that would be hard to answer. At least for him. "Does that mean your a demon?" he said.
Miden felt a fury build within him but he kept calm. He clenched his fist but did not raise it.
"I thought you figured it out." said Miden.
"That's interesting."
"Reo."
"How do expect me to figure that out."
"Reo."
"Whatever that doesn't matter." Reo said looking at Miden."Where are you prince of?"
"Kolasi"
"Kola..." Reo thought for a second before reacting. "Kolasi! Wait, your the prince of the entire demon realm?"
Reo seemd to be surprised. Miden seemed to be quite angry. Like a volcano that's about to erupt but was clogged, somehow.
"Yes"
"Save this for another time." called the royal.
Miden faced her. He had never been good with faces but he knew he had seen this face somewhere. He did not know where but he did.
The same white hair, that flowed in the air. The same bright skin. The same face.
"Do I know you?" asked Miden.
"Maybe not." came the reply.
Miden looked down at the ground. He thought for a while, about many thoughts. His mind couldn't tell apart something. It had always happened to him.
"I don't have time for this" he put a hand to his head. "I have to leave."
The Nobel of the angels interrupted. It was in a rude manner none the less. In a type of disrespect that Miden would not have condoned.
"Now I don't care who you are. A prince of whatever. You do not talk to the her like that."
he said, without any disrespect for normal. Miden did not reply. He continued,
"There is a reason they respect and know her... and no one cares for you."
Miden grew furious. This was now a type of Miden, which if reaveled would wreak havoc, at least unto them. He took a deep breath and then chanted something in a whisper.
The Angel was about to continue with this but then a voice called,
"You stop right there, Barachiel."
Barachiel looked at the direction of the voice. Miden was still facing his face.
"And who are you?" asked Barachiel seeming to know the face he saw.
"I am a member of his squad." said the voice. The soft voice that Miden had heard. He looked towards the voice. It was the obscure squad member of his.
"Let's leave." said the princess to him. At this they left.
The girl approached him. And then said,
"Let's go. There's a call from the squad."
She did not look at Miden while saying this.
"Can I..." said Miden. At this she turned towards him. "Know your name?"
Then she looked away.
"Ariel" she finally said. "Ariel Autumn."
Miden said nothing more. They left.
