Chapter 47 - Unexpected

Episode 15: Unexpected

He hugged me tightly. That alone said everything—I knew he had no problem with it.

"Babe… are you really pregnant?" he asked again, his voice quieter this time.

I nodded, still trembling.

Then he hesitated. "But babe… do you want the baby?"

Did I want it?

"I… I don't know, baby. I really don't know if I want it," I said honestly, voice barely a whisper.

He just nodded and held my hand.

He didn't push me. He didn't try to convince me. He just quietly drove us home.

At Home

The moment we stepped into the house, Mom came rushing toward us, panic all over her face.

"What's wrong, darling? Tell me. What's going on?" she asked, eyes searching my face.

But I couldn't say anything. I buried my face into Taeyang's chest like a scared child.

"Mom," Tae said softly, wrapping his arms around me, "I think he should rest first. Let's talk later."

She nodded reluctantly, stepping aside to let us pass.

My Room

"Sleep, okay?" he said gently as he helped me onto the bed.

I nodded and turned to lie down, but before he could leave, I grabbed his hand. "Stay with me."

He didn't even hesitate. He lay down beside me, letting me rest my head on his chest, his fingers gently playing with my hair.

"You know," he said suddenly, "the woman I call Mother… she's not my real mom."

That caught me off guard. I looked up at him, but he pushed my head gently back down, still stroking my hair.

"I never had a mom," he began, his voice low, almost distant. "I was born from a man… my birth father. But giving birth to me took his life."

My heart clenched.

He continued, "He was in love with another man—my dad. But my grandparents were super conservative. They hated anything that wasn't traditional. So, my dad had to keep the relationship secret."

He paused.

"My mom, the woman everyone thinks is my mom… she had a girlfriend. She and my dad made a deal. She pretended to be pregnant while my real father hid during the pregnancy. When I was born, she flew out with me like I was her real child."

I swallowed hard.

"But there was no money for surgery after the delivery. My birth father died from complications… and my dad never forgave himself."

He smiled sadly, trying to brush it off like it didn't hurt anymore—but I knew better.

"I'm sorry," I whispered.

He kissed the top of my head. "It's okay, baby. It's all in the past now. But I'm scared… I'm scared of losing you the way my dad lost his love."

"Shh... you won't lose me," I whispered back, looking into his eyes. "We'll go through this together, okay?"

He looked at me for a long second. Then I leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on his lips. He kissed me back—slow and gentle. But we didn't take it further. We both needed peace tonight.

I curled into him, found the perfect spot on his chest, and finally drifted off to sleep.

Taeyang's POV

After Kim fell asleep, Jiang knocked gently on the door. I got up and followed her to the living room, where the entire family was gathered.

They all looked worried.

"Please sit," she offered. Everyone's eyes were on me, especially Hyung's.

"There's no need to panic right now," I began cautiously.

They didn't look convinced.

"Then why did you go to the hospital?" Jiang asked sharply.

I took a deep breath. "I'm not sure how you'll take this… but Kim… Kim is… he's pregnant."

The room went dead silent.

Hyung broke it first. "You're joking, right? How can a man get pregnant?"

"And I'm the father," I added, feeling my neck and ears burn red with embarrassment.

"You can't be serious!" Old Woo barked. "This is absurd!"

"I am serious," I said quietly.

And then, to everyone's surprise, it was Grandpa Woo who spoke.

"Taeyang… is it true?" he asked, smiling softly.

"Yes, sir," I replied awkwardly. I'd never spoken to him directly before, and I wasn't even sure what to call him.

He waved his hand, calming everyone down. "Let my grandson rest. Thank you, Taeyang—for being a man and not abandoning him in this stage."

My heart warmed. That simple acknowledgment meant more than I could express.

I smiled back at him. "Thank you, sir."
