Chapter 22 - Chapter 21

The four families arrived at the district along with officials. They were then forced to report themselves to prevent them from causing any trouble. The officers reported the matter to the sheriff and were advised to find them a house to rent. They were not allowed to return to the original village from which they had evacuated. Otherwise, the villagers would be unhappy if these people returned to cause chaos. The officers immediately went to do as the sheriff said.

The Gao Family, who had planned to return to the village again, quickly called the family and separated them from the other families.

"Ah Kang, you are not married yet. If you marry that orphan, then we can return to the village, right?" Old Mother Gao hurriedly gave her young son an idea.

"Mom, I don't like that bitch. How can you force me to marry her?" Gao Kang told his mother with a sullen face. Who would like her? His face was ragged and skinny. There was no part that looked like a woman at all.

"Hai, you really are stupid, just married her as a front. If you want a new wife, then divorce her and seize her house. This way, our family will have a free place to live without having to pay for it." Old Lady Gao hurriedly explained before her foolish son would go into hysterics until the families heard her plan and acted first. Instead of benefiting, there will be loss instead.

The Gao family came to an agreement and saw that the officials had just come to report the matter.

"The sheriff ordered the families who had returned and refused to buy back their property. You must not return to your original village any more. As for your new residence, you can rent it in another village first. Or if you have enough money to rent in the district and then work and save money to buy a house and land in another village, you can do that. But never return to the original village. Do you guys understand?"

The Gao family was very angry when they heard that they were banned from going to their original village. There was a problem with their plan. If they persisted in marrying the orphan and the village headman informed the authorities again. Won't they be sold into slavery?

Other families are also unhappy with this order. But they didn't dare to complain. Therefore, they could only ask the officials for details about the rent instead. The officials explained the rental prices both in the district and in nearby villages around the district that the immigrants had left for them.

Then let them choose which village they want to go to and register their families to prevent them from causing trouble. After the matter was finished, the officials took each family to apply for renting a house as registered.

The Gao family got a place to stay and packed up their things and sat down to talk about their original plans that had been stuck.

"Mother, now that the authorities have banned us from returning to our original village, what should we do about the youngest sibling's marriage?" the eldest son immediately asked his mother. This family doesn't have much ability. Just farming and selling rice to survive, especially enough to get married and have a family but not separate. This made the food allotment barely enough to eat. If his younger brother were to marry that brat, His family would be more comfortable.

"Hey, I can't think of anything right now. Let's wait for some more time first. Tomorrow you all go out and look for work. Now there's hardly enough food to eat. I don't have any money to buy it for you all." Old Lady Gao said bitterly. She had thought of a good plan, but there was a problem.
