Fil already had a bite before leaving the hotel, but there was something in Jackson's cooking that compelled her to eat. Or perhaps it was because she was back in her place and she was much more comfortable. It could also be because of the man who prepared it to impress her brother, or his presence alone that made her feel safe.
"Well, that's… insane!" Jackson commented, swallowing his food slower. "In other words, last night, instead of basking in the glory of slapping Vincent's sister and mother in their faces, your best friend — ex-best friend — almost murdered the little sister?"
Fil nodded.
"And the only reason you didn't call for help is because this self-destructing young master actually stopped you?" he continued and she nodded again. "He told you he called for help and that you saw nothing?"
"Do you have to repeat everything I say, Jack?" she sighed. "Do you think I got scared for no reason?"
