Chapter 20 - CHP 20: The Bridge and it's Builder, Mission?... (P-1)

I guess Naruto is already on his first, official mission...

Though, it wouldn't hurt to just watch him from afar, right? That kid has rubbed off on me a bit, and him going on his first mission should be seamless...

Bah! I... need to stop fooling myself, I think he's grown on me more than I thought. Watching him from afar wouldn't help him, but spoil him, but if anything were to get dangerous...

'I guess it's fine to stop for today, and go a bit easy with my training from now on.' I grabbed my jacket...

'Hmmm...'

I think I that I should oversee him, and his teammates, nothing should be wrong in this sense, and me not interrupting his mission should be ok as well.

I was just going to keep a tabs on my student just incase anything strays.

Furthermore, me being in this world might have already caused some unseen complications, and I don't want it to affect Naruto, and his potential developments.

I was the anomaly in his story, and me existing doesn't guarantee that Naruto will get through whatever he was going to face, and I at least owed the kid that much...

'I should still have enough time to follow him, but I have to hurry a bit...'

I quickly formulated the hand signs that had become muscle memory to me. I knew that the Shunshin was almost at a level where I might not need the hand signs to perform it, I just needed a bit more practice.

*Swish!*

I shun-shined close enough, but among the nearby foliage, I observed Naruto and his team...

'That must be Sasuke and Sakura... And lastly, Kakashi...' If I'm not careful enough, he might spot me. Ninjas in this world didn't necessarily need chakra, or even bloodlust to sense you, if one was experienced enough, they utilized something akin to the 6th sense...

Point was, getting any closer is bad news for now, especially with someone who might have surpassed the Hokage himself in sheer raw espionage and tracking skills, and anything related to the sort.

Still, this distance is more than enough since my eyesight and hearing were far beyond the average, or even jonin level ninja... And, it looks like they're ready to move off...

I jumped of the wall, landing farther away just in case while still keeping an eye out for them... Now, All I had to do was to play the waiting-game, well, until anything out of the sort came up.

After a few, I saw them meet up with an old man. They looked like they were discussing some matters from far too... Then I saw the old man's expression turn grim for just a moment.

'Doesn't seem anything is out of the ordinary, so far...' Everything looks fine from here... Actually, what's that? I focused my vision just a td bit more.

'Something's, off... Why was there a puddle of water in the middle of a hot day like this? Oh... I see...' Looking to the side, I saw Kakashi turn to notice it too...

Hmmm? Naruto, he's looking towards it as well, not bad... I guess that little reading and observation I asked him to implement paid off...

'Both are walking past it, with everyone else too, I guess only he and Naruto were the only ones who noticed it so far...'

Though, it didn't take long for my hunch to be right, it wasn't even 20 minutes after leaving the village, yet the were already being attacked by ninjas?... I'll just observe it for now.

If anything goes out of hand, I should be there on time, I'm more than confident in my level of speed...

Kakashi got caught in the attack of the ninjas attack, wrapped in chains, hearing the sounds of loud chains, everyone else turned around...

"S-Sensei!" Sakura shouted, however, in less than an instant, the two ninjas gripped on both ends of the chain, squeezing the chains.

"HA!" Both the enemy ninja's shouted in unison, squeezing the barbed chains, seemingly killing off the silver haired ninja, Sakura seeing this, was mortified beyond belief.

Even Sasuke was slightly shaken up by the ordeal as well...

"S-SHIT!" The old man muttered, now terrified about his current situation. On the other hand, Naruto sharpened his gaze, not out of fear, but out of silent knowing. He dashed towards the ninjas with speed that clearly shouldn't be of his rank.

The two ninjas looked at the orange haired child run towards them at alarming speeds. Before they could even move off properly, Naruto targeted the one to the left first.

Now angry, the ninja shouted "DIE!" His claws now ready to rip Naruto to shreds. However, Naruto calmly parried the attack, surprising the ninja...

"Too, slow..." That's what the enemy-nin had heard, before Naruto pivoted off of his left arm, twisting in the air with immense speeds, spin kicking him in the jaw, knocking him out.

Everyone was shocked at what had just happened...

'W-What!? How?'

Sasuke was confused, but not enough to lose his cool. As much as he didn't want to admit it, Naruto was as fast, if not far faster than himself, not only that, he barely saw that Naruto using some weird taijutsu technique.

Sakura only saw the nin fly across towards his own partner looking towards Naruto with surprise.

"GUH!" Before the enemy nin could even move off, he felt something like a vice grab him by his neck...

"And just where do you think you're going?" He looked up, seeing the silver haired nin he and his partner swore they killed mere moments ago... As soon as he heard those words, the vice on his neck felt tighter, and tighter before he eventually lost consciousness...

Kakashi was alive and well, surprising Both the old man, and Sakura.

"Well, sorry for worrying you both, but I'm fine..." Kakashi said.

Sakura was confused, "W-Wha? How?" She was shocked, she was sure she had seen blood with everything else...

"He used the Kawarimi-jutsu before they could realize, and escaped into the nearby trees to the left, right." Naruto looked towards his sensei, not with a questioning tone, but rather a confident one instead.

Kakashi hearing the youth, simply nodded...

"That's right, Naruto..." Kakashi added, but even he was surprised. He didn't think Naruto would have kept up his speed, taken he hadn't gone all out, but still, he noticed that Naruto had dealt with the situation rather beautifully.

'That's, interesting... Since when did he this powerful? Where did he learn that taijutsu as well?'

Still, Kakashi had let that go for now. At the moment, he realized that he didn't need to even intervene, based on Naruto's speed and power, this fight was as good as done. Kakashi took a quick glance towards Sasuke, being oddly quiet...

'This cannot, be good...' Kakashi sighed mentally.

"I-I guess, that makes sense... But, sensei, why did you let us fight them?" Sakura asked.

Kakashi took a moment to respond...

"Let's just say that I had to test something first, but believe me when I say that none of you were in any real danger..." Kakashi responded, however, his gaze turned towards the builder...

"You... I'll need to have a talk with you, personally..." He added again.
