That afternoon after school Wilhelm had agreed to meet up at a known dessert place, where he would indulge in an ice cream treat with Lena. Arriving he could see that Lena looked quite exhausted.
"Hey Lena, everything okay?" Wilhelm asked showing interest.
Lena sighed. "I'm rather fatigued. Hamlet rehearsals have been challenging of late. Enacting Ophelia's emotions isn't easy. I've been working hard."
Wilhelm nodded in sympathy. "I know exactly the feeling. I, too, have been trying hard to get into character as Antonio in The Merchant of Venice. Perseverance and practice, my friend, that's all it is."
A smile brightened on Lena's face. "You are right. We all are in this together, backing each other up along the way. I know you will be great as Antonio."
Wilhelm smiled back. "Thanks for your words, Lena. That really means something coming from you….I trust you will kill it as Ophelia."
Strolling along, ice cream in hand, they spoke about what roles they would be playing and how tough theirs was. Wilhelm liked Lenas support and boost in confidence for he knew that would make him really come out and perform well on stage.
After dessert, Wilhelm proposed a stroll to take in the beauty of the nearby park. This proposal Lena accepted with good grace. They both strolled around the park and talked about their love, of theatre and their dreams, of a bright future.
Wilhelm was grateful, for his friendship with Lena and their mutual commitment, to the success of their plays. He could not wait and see Lenas performance of Ophelia after one day.
