They sat talking about the approaching anniversary of their school, which was to take place in March. Everybody was excited about various performances and activities that would take place within its frames.
"I heard there's going to be stage performance of William Shakespeare's poems" Lena said, her eyes lighting up.
Sophia nodded. "Yeah it's because this year is 545th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth. They are also honoring him by having his writings used for four plays."
Felix, appearing engrossed asked; "What plays are they?"
Sophia responded thus, "The Merchant of Venice. There's also A Midsummer Night's Dream. King Lear and Hamlet."
Wilhelm turned into the discussion. "Has any of you guys ever been fully sucked into Shakespeare's poetry?"
Lena nodded in unison with her body language indicating unity. "I have read some of his sonnets. They are very lovely, indeed. But the comprehension of it, at times, eludes me."
Sophia responded thereafter. "His diction does indeed provide density. But I think it is that very aspect which makes his poetry interesting."
Göran broke in unexpectedly. "No I've never read his poetry. On the other hand some plays of his I have watched being enacted."
Wilhelm nodded. "Shakespeare held rich imagination. I do sometimes wonder. His poetry can feel overly intricate to comprehend. Especially for 16-year-old boy like myself."
Felix laughed. "Don't worry Wilhelm. I'm sure we'll all enjoy performance, even if we don't understand every word."
In high spirits, the group, since discussion about Shakespeare's poetry and celebration was moving on at a high pace, felt elated to witness it and anxiously waited to observe beauty in person.
