Chapter 40 - Chapter 40"Heavy Snow Day"

Late for class the two-hour meeting finally wrapped. Wilhelm joined friends heading to next lesson. Anticipation brimmed in them for lunch break. This was time to play football on the field. They opened the door. They were greeted by unexpected heavy snowfall.

"It doesn't look like we can play football," said Wilhelm. He was looking at field covered in snow.

Felix audibly expressed dissatisfaction. "This weather is terrible. I anticipate spring."

Göran showed solidarity. "Yes. I am fully over this unending snow. Let's play a newer game."

Some light-hearted jesting followed in it Lena and Sophia spoke. "Göran, let's be real. This snow isn't going to end anytime soon. We also have more winter. The perfect game for you would be an egg hunt at Easter."

Wilhelm noted how snow held an intrinsic beauty. On the other hand, it was also a significant inconvenience. Everyone in the group would need to combine their strength. They would need to shovel snow from surface of the field. Doing so was paramount to walk on it. As a community they grabbed shovels. They initiated process of shoveling snow from surface around the field.

It was tiring work. No one could deny that. Yet they also were not young kids notorious for underestimate. They watched girls struggle to shovel snow around field. Amidst these physical exertsion they made substantial progress. Soon, they could move on field well without concerns of slipping. Realizing their achievement brought a shared sense of relief for the group.

As shoveling came to a full completion, their conversation shifted. Wilhelm put forward idea of snow-based games. "We could have a snowball brawl or construct a snow-man." Soft ambiance in the classroom disappeared instantly as Felix expressed zero interest.

Felix was unenthused. "Can we just stay inside? Cold is not my preference."

Others seemed to agree. That's when they decided to go inside. Their escape from harshness of outside world was rewarded in form of lunch. They continued to chat while they ate. The topic shifted to what they plan to do over the weekend. Included in the conversation was sharing of memories from their snowy past adventures.

Despite not being able to live out their football dream realization something else formed. Their mutual enjoyment persisted during the lunch. The memorable snowy day became a story to tell to someone later. This shared memory made unpleasantness of snow less unbearable.
