Chapter 4 - Testing testing… 1 2 3

POWER!!!! Plus magic!

I am emphasizing this right now.

—————-

"Now, show me your weakest magic. And use it on the D-Class."

I compiled. The shadow beneath a burly looking man surged upwards and wrapped itself around his limbs. Shadow locking I called it.

In principle this magic worked like so, I would send out my mana and use it to 'lock' the movement of the shadow. Then I could manipulate it like it was a thing that actually existed.

The burly man let out a muffled scream in terror before closing his eyes and waiting for his death. It did not come. In fact the shadows around him receded back to where they came from.

"Hmm? Could your magic not kill that man?"

I shook my head, "It could, I just don't feel like killing people." I could hear the frown in the researcher's voice, "He is one of the worst of the worst of the D-Class. Specifically picked out for this testing because of his crimes against all of society."

Ahh. I see. "Ah, sorry I don't really know much about the foundation. Next magic will do if you request."

That was a lie from me. I just didn't want to seem like a ruthless murder. That would be bad on my report.

The burly man decided to try and be smart. While I was talking he slinked up to me and threw a punch directly into my face.

He clearly wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

A scream was let out. Not my own. Of course I had magic shields!? Who do you think Merlin Wynn is? Because I can tell you he is no slouch.

"Alright, how many magics do you have?"

"Hmm… 9 I think."

"Could you name them?"

"Elemental magic, illusion magic, healing magic, mind magic, enhancement magic, transformation magic, creation magic, destruction magic, and…. Nature magic?"

"What is the difference between nature and elemental magic?"

"That… you should give me a TV for that information, with connection to the internet."

"I will send give you my recommendation for getting a TV if you answer."

"Deal, nature magic is basically… being more in tuned with the world? I could summon storms, create earthquakes, small ones, summon tsunamis, talk to plants and animals, that type of thing."

"I assume your most powerful type of magic is destruction?"

"If I had the same skill in it as my other magics most definitely. But currently fire is my most powerful."

"Use your most potent fire magic on one of the D-Class."

I raised my hand towards the dude that punched me, a magic circle formed in front of my hand and several more layers of magic circles formed above the first one. The D-Class raised his head.

That was the moment he knew he fucked up.

"Extreme Fire Magic: Proto Star!"

I blinked and everything in front of me was a scorch mark. I had controlled the damage but not enough clearly. I had managed to stop my flames from burning through the walls so it was fine.

I started to pant heavily, I fell on my ass.

"What."

I lied down on the floor struggling to stay awake.

POV Gumiyeong

Merlin has been gone for a while now… my foot tapping against floor anxiously didn't help.

My fox ears perked up. In the hallway I could hear footsteps. It must be Merlin! I honed in on the noise closer. It wasn't. The walking pattern which with I had memorized was different.

*Knock Knock*

"Miss Gumiyeong, may we come in?"

Why were they calling me my name now? Internally I snarled at the thought of them calling me the name Merlin had given me.

"Yes, you may."

The door slid open and a few people walked in. "Miss Gumiyeong, we have decided to give you and Mr. Wynn a better room." One of them said coolly. But I could hear something else in that voice…. Fear? For me? No… for Merlin.

My internal grin grew. He must have scared them silly.

Another one of them walked forward, "Now, miss Gumiyeong, we know you are controlling Merlin through your cha-"

My face turned feral, "YOU DARE SUGGEST I AM CONTROLLING MERLIN!?!? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT HE MEANS TO ME? YOU PEOPLE AT THE FOUNDATION CALLED ME SCP-953 FOR DECADES AND ONLY A FEW DAYS AFTER HE MET ME HE HAD ALREADY GIVEN ME A NAME.

-I take a DEEP breath-

Merlin is the LOVE of my LIFE! I would NEVER EVER control him even IF I could control him I would rather die than manipulate him."

My out burst must have scared them as they proceeded to simply take me to the new room without talking.

Once the door to me and Merlin's new room opened I was amazed.

The new room we were escorted to was a stark contrast to our previous living quarters. Gone were the cramped confines and sparse furnishings. Instead, I found myself standing in a spacious chamber bathed in soft, ambient lighting.

The walls were empty for now, but would most certainly be filled out in the future. A plush red rug stretched across the floor, straight out of Hollywood.

In the center of the room stood a large, ornate bed adorned with luxurious silk sheets and plump pillows. It looked like something straight out of a fairy tale, fit for royalty.

In front of the bed stood a stand with a large TV on it.

Against the right wall, a sleek desk and chair sat waiting for the secrets of magic to be studied on it.

Almost touching the left wall sat a wooden table and two chairs, ready to be eaten on.

To the left of the bed a wooden doorway that led to a spacious bathroom with a fully running Jacuzzi. To the right of the bed another wooden doorway sat.

This time containing the modern kitchen with all the appliances you find at home.

But one feature drew my attention the most.

Merlin sleeping in the bed.

The two guards behind me quietly left.

I ran up to Merlin, joyful to see him again, but as I prepared to jump on him I noticed something.

His mana felt empty. Although it was recovering at a rapid pace, and it was already at a few normal wizards worth of mana, it was still empty compared to his maximum and my new maximum.

His body was pale and his breathing was slow. Normally his heart would beat strongly but now it was beating slow.

I recognized this. Mana exhaustion.

It should go away soon. I guess he must have used a very powerful attack. And that is why they are so scared of me and him.

——————————-

1 week after moving to site 17

Currently I was taking a shower and washing my tails.

8 tails done…. 9 tails done… 10 tails done…

Thats right I had grown my tenth tail. I noticed it when… uh… Merlin was giving me a….

Yeah.

Well anyway, after my tail had grown all my abilities at least tripled, including mana capacity. Originally, I could barely shape shift ten times in a row before I met Merlin. And now? I could shape shift hundreds of times. I lost count after a while.

Another thing was apart from my mana I gained a separate source of energy. After I told Merlin we tested the properties of the new energy. In the end it basically was just a more physical form of mana. Ki is what we called it. Far better physical enhancements than mana but unable to leave the body.

Also something was starting to change about my body. Originally I never stayed in a shape besides my true body for long, but I had been in this body for a year now, with minor adjustments here and there to see what Merlin liked…

*Cough* *Cough*

Anyway the form I was in was starting to become my true form. What did that entail? I didn't know.

———————

*Knock Knock*

"Come in."

"SCP-953, the higher ups have decided to test your abilities."

Calling me SCP again?

I followed behind them as they left the room.

The guards let me through several hallways and multiple rooms until I was in a large open room the size of a football field. (American football). And the celling was just as high up.

If you ever watched bleach, Merlin forced me, imagine the room ichigo trained in while getting his bankai.

For some reason the room looked to have been recently renovated and in some corners of the room there were char marks? It looked like the whole room had been blasted to high hell.

I also detected a trace of mana here and there, must have been when Merlin used his "Proto Star".

"SCP-953, do you posses an ability similar to SCP-953-2?"

"Yes, but I'm not as skilled at it."

"What types of magic do you posses?"

"Elemental, excluding light and dark, healing, transformation, nature, and enhancement, and limited mind magic."

"Is your strongest attack anywhere near SCP-953-2's level?"

"About 1/50th." That was a lie, it was 1/99th.

As I spoke 3 D-Class personnel entered the room.

"SCP-953-2 ended his testing pre-maturely, could you demonstrate healing, transformation, nature, enhancement, and mind magic?"

Hmm…. Should I demonstrate it to full capacity? Or should I keep my and Merlin's powers secret? I weighed the pros and cons.

If I showed them my full power it could scare them into giving us more luxuries, maybe I could weasel in for some magic books to speed my and Merlin's studies.

But at the same time the foundation could develop countermeasures against our magic. Completely sealing our fate to forever reside in these cells.

I grimaced at the thought.

At the same time wouldn't the foundation be expecting us to hide some of our powers? If so it wouldn't matter if we hid them, as the foundation would have already expected this.

So it was decided, full power.

"Ok, sure, what first?"

Through the walls of the room with my Ki enhanced and magic enhanced senses I could hear them discussing.

"Enhancement magic. Please run a few laps around the testing room."

I mobilized my mana to make my cells stronger. Through the process of turning mana into physical energy I could hyper charge my body several times over.

*SWISH*

My brain inhumanly fast brain calculated my running path in a fraction of a second as I ran so fast the wind visibly distorted from my body shape.

10 seconds later and I had ran 3 laps.

*HUFF* *HUFF*

The mana left my cells and around 50% of it returned to my body. My legs burned badly and my arms ached from moving at such a pace. Although I could move that fast, it didn't mean my body could withstand it.

Merlin was still working on that.

A little bit of healing magic latter and I was back to top shape. By replacing my damaged cells with ones made of mana I was fully healed.

"Excellent. Now, please demonstrate transformation magic."

My body morphed into a different form made of mana imitations of flesh and blood.

A fox, my second most familiar form.

"Good, good…"

I heard a gun shot noise and a few shouts before I turned over to see one of the D-Class with a gun shot wound in his chest.

"Now, please heal the D-Class, if you can."

I turned back to my human form and walked over to the injured D-Class. With a raise of my hand and a tiny magic circle forming a blast of green healing mana shot towards the D-Class.

With a jump, he was back in top shape. The mana imitation cells slowly turning real in his chest.

"Now could you demonstrate mind magic?"

"It's just my charm speak, but if you want me to demonstrate it again, sure."

"Ah, no need then. Now demonstrate nature magic if you would."

I pondered for a moment. Nature magic… was either REALLY strong or stupidly weak. There was no in between. Either summon a tsunami capable of destroying New-York, or have a conversation about the weather with the squirrel in your yard.

"Could you bring in an animal? Otherwise I would have to make an earthquake."

A few minutes latter and a cow, with its beady demonic black eyes, was staring directly into my soul… YEEESH, I hated cows.

"Now please demonstrate communication with the cow."

"Moo."

"Moo, moo?"

"Moo, moo."

"Mooooooooo."

The cow rolled over on the floor.

"That was… insightful."

And my testing was over.
