Nate ventured deeper into the forest, his senses on high alert for any signs of traps. As they approached a small, dilapidated cottage that looked ready to collapse at any moment, a mixture of hope and dread filled him. He was close to rescuing Gwen, but what condition would he find her in?
Selene halted, her eyes narrowing as she surveyed the building. "I doubt the demon left Gwen in there alone, gift-wrapped for an easy rescue," she said thoughtfully.
"So, no blasting through the door with explosive fire magic?" Rob quipped, trying to lighten the mood. His attempt fell flat as both Nate and Selene shot him withering glares.
"Definitely not," Selene replied, her face impassive. "As the most durable member of the group, I should go in first."
Normally, Nate would have agreed, but a strong impulse urged him forward. "I want to be the first one in," he stated firmly.
