Chereads / Kaiser of the New World / Chapter 277 - Luck

Chapter 277 - Luck

There was no more time to hold back.

If Kai didn't put every fibre of his being into fighting the Yeti, they were sure to die.

Its strength was overwhelming, its size was overwhelming, the fact it hadn't even gone all out was overwhelming. Everything about the beast was overwhelming.

So Kai had to close the gap as much as possible.

Taking out the Potion of Minor Strength Frosty had gifted him, Kai popped off the top and downed its contents as he continued to approach the Yeti.

The taste was slightly bitter, but Kai didn't care about that, he was more focused on how much it boosted his Strength by.

Originally, the potion was meant to boost it by 2%, but since it had been stored in the Satchel of Salaciousness since he got it, it actually boosted it by 3.5%.

Kai would have preferred to let it sit in the satchel a while longer, but the situation just didn't allow it.

Minor Restoration was put into overdrive, trying to heal as much as Kai's body as possible before he got involved in the conflict. He was the lowest level and the weakest of the two warring giants so he had to make sure to not get squished.

But with how he was currently feeling, even getting squished wouldn't knock him out of the fight.

Kai took a deep breath, readying his mind. He had basically died once this fight, he wasn't keen on repeating it.

Petunia's mother and the Yeti were still in the middle of their brutal brawl, trading punches, kicks and bites. As of now, the fight seemed fairly even, but the Demon of Wrath was slowly losing ground.

It was time to change that.

Kai lifted his arm, pointing a finger at the Yeti's head. His claw was directed exactly as its eye as he spoke.

"Go."

Once again getting engaged in the fight, Esurient shot towards the Yeti, eager to get involved and assist the demon.

Kai couldn't help but notice that the Ruby blade almost seemed sharper, more deadly after watching Kai nearly die.

Now that Esurient was fighting the Yeti with Petunia's mother the fight should be a little more even, which was exactly what Kai wanted, because now he was going to try something he hadn't done before.

His claws were too weak to cut into the Yeti, he also couldn't deal and blunt damage since his punches weren't strong enough.

So Kai had to think of another method to damage the Yeti.

A method to do with a concept he had thought of earlier.

Taking a deep breath, Kai brought his hands together and activated Soul Inferno.

Normally, he would create a ball of flames for a ranged attack. It worked well enough.

But the Yeti's fur was too thick for any regular ball of fire to damage it, so Kai was going to steal a page from the Yeti's book.

A long pole of flames began to form. Realising he didn't have a long enough arm span to contain it, Kai angled it towards the ground and began creating it that way.

It was strenuous work. Normally, Kai would simply think of the shape and it would create a version that was close enough to what was in his mind, but this time he had to be precise.

It had to be sharp enough to pierce the Yeti's fur and flesh, it had to have enough strength to not fade away while in the air, and it had to be shaped perfectly.

Kai had thought about which sort of flames would be the best for this creation. At first, he had been planning to use Dexterity. He still hadn't figured out what the secret ability of those flames were, so it had seemed like a good option.

But after nearly dying, Kai knew there was no room for error. He had to hit his mark.

He couldn't leave it down to luck.

So he would just force the javelin to be lucky.

Slowly, a bright golden javelin began to form. At first, it was chaotic and wild. It had the shape of a spear, but it was breaking apart, bits of it disappearing into the air every second.

But bit by bit it began to condense, solidifying into a truly formidable weapon.

Kai started to sweat. Out of everything he had created with Soul Inferno, this was by far his best creation. Just the amount of control required for the spear to not fall to bits was immense enough for him to never want to attempt this again.

And yet, Kai knew it wouldn't be enough. No matter how lucky he could make the javelin with his flames, he just couldn't justify its effectiveness.

So Kai had to just make it luckier.

Meaning it was time to attempt another thing he hadn't tried before.

Unable to wipe the sweat from his brow since both his hands were trying to sustain the spear, Kai tried to call on the memory of using the Stat Bead.

When he used the item, it was instinctual. The knowledge of how it worked was already in his head so he didn't even have to really do anything, it just worked.

So what Kai was trying to do was simple...

In theory.

He was going to extract some of his stats and fuse them with the javelin, amplifying its strength even more and making it even more deadly.

Would it work? Kai wasn't sure.

All he knew was that he had to try.

Carefully, Kai extracted a single one of his stats, one that had been placed in Luck.

Taking great care in the process, Kai focused on the connection between him and his flames. His current flames had a much stronger connection with him than even Umbra. The flames were taken directly from his soul, his own personal affinity.

Feeling the connection, Kai guided the singular stat, bringing it closer and closer to the golden javelin.

Until, finally...

It merged with the flaming weapon.

Kai exhaled, relaxing a little-

Suddenly, the javelin began to fall apart. The uncontrolled force began to lash out at Kai, his own flames damaging him due to their chaotic nature.

The silver of his armour began to peel away, revealing the black fabric of his fingertips, the last layer before the flames reached his fingers.

Kai cursed, trying his hardest to keep the shape of the javelin as it fell apart in his hands.

But it was no use, the javelin was breaking. It was too powerful for Kai to control.

Kai hissed. He had to maintain it. Any weaker and it wouldn't be able to deal any damage to the beast, but any stronger and it threatened to damage him more than it would the Yeti.

It was uncontrollable, it was-

Oh...

All down to luck.

He couldn't force the javelin to he lucky, he could only amplify the amount of luck it had.

Meaning, he couldn't choose its shape, its shape had to be chosen by luck.

So that's what Kai done.

He relinquished control, much like he had when Failure possessed him.

He was only a tool that was to be used in the crafting of something wondrous, a hammer that would forge the luckiest weapon of all.

Everything fell into place.

A shockwave shot out from the javelin, stunning everybody present in the arena for a split second.

The Yeti stopped focusing on the Demon for a moment, turning to Kai. It wasn't a stupid beast, it recognised that the javelin Kai was creating could be potentially dangerous.

The beast roared out, but just as it was about to rush at Kai, a pair of blood-red arms somehow managed to wrap around its waist, elongating to an unnatural degree and keeping the Yeti pinned in place.

Petunia's mother shrieked as the bit into the Yeti's back, taking advantage of every moment she had it stuck.

Another shockwave shot out as the multi-coloured flames that had been enveloping Kai suddenly vanished.

A moment later, they were replaced by the full strength of Luck flames. His entire body was engulfed in a golden glow, making him shine like a star.

Wind began to billow around Kai, the javelin in his hands beginning to glow with a godly golden light.

Its shape shifted, curving ever so slightly as it molded into its ideal form, a form capable of defeating the Yeti. A slight curve was added to its centre, making it look like a thunderbolt that had been encased in liquid gold, its power something that Kai should not be able to wield.

Its tip continued to condense and sharpen, the forging process nearing completion when Kai had to add the final ingredients.

Completely focused, he mentally opened a door to his soul, creating a link between his very being and the javelin.

That's when Kai felt it.

Slowly but surely, his stats began to leave his soul and fuse with the javelin.

One, two, three, the number of stats kept increasing, all of them originating from his Luck stat.

The javelin began to glow even brighter, its tip shining an even darker hue. That was where all all of the stats were being placed.

However, Kai began to panic when the rate that his stats were being sucked out suddenly increased. His Luck stat began decreasing rapidly, so he was forced to sever the connection between his soul and the javelin prematurely.

Kai could only pray that it was enough.

And pray he did.

Master. I've never asked anything of you, but help this bolt strike true.

Since Kai's eyes were closed he didn't notice it, but even if they were open he would have had a hard time spotting a nearly imperceptible speck of gold fall from the air onto the tip of the thunderbolt, its shade of gold becoming even darker.

At the same time, another speck of gold descended onto one of the Yeti's eyes, a nearly invisible thread connecting the two of them.

Opening his eyes, Kai's pupils were pure gold, the edges of his red hair singing to a dark blonde colour he winded back his arm.

Bolts of golden lightning shot out, zapping at the sky and floor surrounding him.

Finally, after he couldn't pull his arm back any more, Kai roared out as his arm shot forward, throwing the javelin with all of his might.

After that, it was all down to one of the strongest underlying forces of the Multiverse.

Luck.

As soon as the bolt left his hand Kai got a notification, but he ignored it as he watched his creation shoot forward.

The wind folded around it, obeying the command of the godly creation, even going so far as to help guide it.

The Yeti tried its hardest to escape the Demon's grasp, but in the end it was unable to.

The golden bolt of Luck struck true, embedding itself in the Yeti's right eye as it let out an earth-shaking roar.

Sorry for the late chapter 😭.

The strongest storm in my country's history has left me without power, WiFi, water and phone service so I can't post the chapters I write. I've managed to get this one out, but I don't know when the next one will be.
