Chapter 6 - Chapter-6

He leaned his back on the rail which was the protective covering to stop people from falling and finally released a small sigh of relief in that he got some time to rest. But he felt something wrong.

"Something's not right"

Even though he knew that he would have to escape this place sooner or later, he had a way to do so, he just needed to wait for the right time but he couldn't help but feel a looming feeling in his heard as he glanced around and finally spotted something on the top of the penthouse which he had to come out from the reach this summit.

It was a lone wolf glancing at him without moving. It seemed that it had seen him from the moment he had came to the place yet, it didn't make any moves against him. But being wary, he took out a sword behind his body, covered so that the wolf would not see it but the wolf after seeing him notice it, started to stand and then jumped down.

It looked as if to wait for the challenger, its opponent to prepare itself before it moved. Then with a pounce, the wolf disappeared from its spot to in front of Weifeng. Weifeng not expecting such speed but was able to block a bit with his sword due to instinct. He still carried out a bit of injuries from the blow as he touched his face as blood was soaked on his hand. There was a line carrying out on his cheeks due to the strike of the wolf.

'This wolf is at least tier 2, no peak tier 2'

'Shit, this is not what I expected from this rift'

He wasn't able to have much more time to think as the wolf struck again. Taking out a shield from his storage, he blocked the blow. It seemed that the wolf wasn't even using its full power as it played around with him but for him this was a hellish time as he needed to think quickly since time was ticking and the other wolves which were climbing the building would arrive sooner or later.

With adrenaline coursing through his veins, Weifeng engaged in a desperate battle against the formidable wolf, each blow resonating with the intensity of a thunderclap. As the ferocious beast lunged and struck with unparalleled speed, Weifeng found himself pushed to the brink, his every movement a testament to the sheer force of his will.

But despite his best efforts, Weifeng soon found himself struggling to keep pace with the relentless onslaught of his lupine adversary.

"I didn't think I would even have to use this"

Weifeng taking out a bottle from his storage ring after moving the shield away said,

Before the wolf could strike again, he quickly drank it. Then taking a stance against the wolf, he started to rush towards it and struck it with his sword.

The wolf not expecting the speed of Weifeng was surprised and then quickly dodged but was still struck by the second sword which was in his left hand.

The wolf which was struck started to take Weifeng seriously as it moved away from him. How was Weifeng who hadn't awakened able to fight against such a foe on peak tier 2 on equal grounds. The answer lies in the potion he had used. It was a tier 3 potion capable of making the consumer get to tier 3 for a limited amount of time but after usage, the user couldn't use mana for one week. Weifeng felt a warm energy fill his body as he felt the current course through his body.

Empowered by the potion's effects, Weifeng redoubled his efforts, launching a relentless assault against the wolf with a speed and precision that the wolf had a hard time against. With each strike, he sought to exploit the slightest opening in his foe's defences, driving the creature back with a ferocity that belied his mortal frame.

But the wolf was still a peak tier 2 almost reaching tier 3, the wolf was able to use its strength to deflect the sword of Weifeng. Thinking it was a chance, the wolf jumped and tried to pounce on to his left hand but there was a smirk on Weifeng face as he struck the wolf with his leg and then with his sword struck the wolf on its abdomen mid-air. The wolf hit the rails and almost went off the building. Its figure struggling to stand up but was able to with effort as blood leaked from its injury and its life-force almost seemingly going down.

Then the atmosphere changed as the wolf started to crackle with energy. The life-force which was drained started to strengthen.

"No, it's trying to break through, I need to stop it"

Weifeng summoned every ounce of his remaining strength and pushed back against the wolf with all his might, sending it hurtling over the edge of the building with a final, desperate shove. With a primal roar, it summoned the last of its strength and tried to take Weifeng down with it.

With a boom, there was tremors as something fell to the ground and car sirens started to roar as it got hit. At the top of the 50 stories building, Weifeng could be seen clutching onto one of the rails which had bent as the wolf fell.

On his back were shredded cloth as the wolf tried to take himself with it. Behind the shredded cloth were heinous injuries of claw marks with blood dripping from them.

Pushing himself up, Weifeng was able to reach the top again as he lied flat on the floor. After a small time of rest, he could hear the growling sounds of wolves. Even though he wanted more rest, he pushed with his willpower to get up as he dusted himself off as he took a pill. It wouldn't be able to heal such injuries but still it was better than nothing.

Spotting a nearby structure of comparable height, he steeled himself for the daring leap ahead. With a deep breath, he activated his remaining wind boot, feeling the rush of power surge through him as he propelled himself into the air.

The wolves below watched in fury as their prey soared above them, their jaws snapping at empty air as Weifeng sailed gracefully towards the neighboring building. With precision born of desperation, he drove his swords into the concrete façade, using them as anchors to slow his descent.
