Chapter 29 - Chapter 29- The daily life of a normal girl

Author POV

"Buzz"

"Buzz"

"Ugh"

"Is it morning already?" A groggy voice spoke, muffled by the blanket.

"Buzz"

"Buzz"

"Alright, alright" A fair hand snaked out of the blanket, and with precision, it managed to turn off the alarm.

"Woosh"

With a kick, the blanket was shoved away, revealing the delicate-looking girl.

Even though her hair was disheveled and she had no makeup on, somehow she still managed to look ramp-ready.

"Selena"

"Bang"

"Bang"

"Wake up, darling."

With a low groan, Selena replied.

"I am up, mom," Selena shouted before the banging stopped.

"Ugh." With a groan, Selena stood up from her bed.

"These visions, or whatever they are, will be the end of me," Selena said while ruffling her red hair, as if to clear away her drowsiness and headache.

"Woosh"

In one swift motion, she removed the curtains covering the windows.

Rays of sunlight peeked in, illuminating the dark room.

Like a typical girl's bedroom, it was clean and arranged.

Several notebooks and textbooks were piled up on the study table, indicating that today was exam day.

The pane of the window reflected Selena's drowsy face.

With hair as red as a fallen maple leaf, though disheveled, it strangely suited her, giving her a wild charm.

The glass reflected her two eyes, each with an iris of different colors, indicating that she had the rare condition of heterochromia.

The left iris is a light gray color, as if to represent the all-encompassing sky.

The right iris is a green color, as if to represent all the greenery on earth.

"Ugh, so bright." In one swift motion, she curtained the windows again.

She vigorously rubbed her eyes, as if to clear away the drowsiness.

Her beautiful eyes scanned the room before stopping on the study table full of books.

With another groan, she made her way into the bathroom.

Just like that, time passed slowly.

"Selena, you will miss your bus."  Another wave of door banging came.

"Kaach"

Before her mother could continue further, the door opened.

Selena stood completely dressed, a mischievous smile on her lips. Her alluring eyes were filled with playfulness, as if demanding praise for not getting late.

"Mom, one of these days you will bring my door down with your punches." Selena made a snarky comment as she rushed downstairs.

"If only you would wake up on time," Selena's mother replied in her tired voice, though her eyes were filled with playfulness and a smile played on her lips.

"Slurppp"

In one swift motion, Selena downed her cup of coffee before grabbing a few sandwiches on her way out.

"Bye, mom," Selena said, giving a quick peck on her mother's cheek before rushing out.

"Honk"

Just as she reached the door, her college bus arrived too.

Stuffing the sandwich into her mouth in a very unladylike way, she climbed aboard.

The bus was still mostly empty, except for a few students.

Probably because it was exam day, most students would come late through their own transportation.

While vigorously chewing the sandwich, she made her way to the last seat by the window.

Finally getting a moment of peace, she started thinking of her visions. The visions have always been a part of her life.

When they started, she wasn't aware, but these visions somehow seemed more real than her present life, and this scared her.

Several times, she visited a psychiatrist and other counselors to get a fix on her problems.

But nothing worked; when she started getting overwhelmed by the visions, they would disappear on their own, as if knowing her limit.

But soon they would come back and continue; each arrival would bring more visions than the last time, as if strengthening her pysche.

Because of this or maybe something else, her mind has always been sharper, her senses sharper than her peers, and even her physique was getting stronger as each day passed.

Being the most beautiful girl around certainly has its perks, but it also has downsides. Several times, she has managed to escape life-threatening situations unscathed thanks to her stronger pysche and physique.

No matter how bad the situation gets, she always manages to escape, as if helped by a greater power.

"Sigh." Selena released a silent sigh while looking at the scenery passing by.

The beautiful morning, with sunlight that felt cool on the skin and fallen dry leaves around mixed with a cloudless sky, painted a beautiful picture.

But her attention was not on this; her eyes were flashing with complicated emotions.

A man with a blurry face appeared in her mind.

Though blurred, his perfect couldn't be kept completely hidden.

The perfect contours of his face were still visible, and his eyes, as if piercing through her visions, seemed to look directly at her, filled with endless tenderness.

This scared her at first, but with time, she got used to it and even started looking forward to these visions.

A strange yearning started growing in her to possess this perfect man and keep him all for herself.

Because of this, she always kept her distance from the opposite sex; after seeing him, no other man could charm her. And also to support her single mother, Selena worked many part-time jobs.

The feeling of yearning was getting stronger with each passing day, but two months ago, it became so intense that she was almost driven mad.

She has a feeling that it won't be long before they meet.

Thinking of meeting that peerless man brought a smile to her flawless face, accentuating her beauty even further.
