Upon hearing Noah's words, the crowd was stunned. A global disaster? No rescue? No one coming to save them? Could it really be the end of the world?
"It's impossible. You're lying. I won't believe it's true unless you provide evidence," some couldn't accept reality and voiced their skepticism.
"Believe it or not, it's no concern of mine," Noah shrugged indifferently. The most pitiful people living in the apocalypse are those who fail to recognize reality, clinging to unrealistic fantasies. Such individuals often die the quickest, unable to survive even one phase.
"Let's continue our discussion. I'll start with the conditions and compensation I'm offering. See if you can accept them," Noah turned back to continue speaking with Liu Hui.
"Okay, please go ahead," Liu Hui nodded in agreement. She had no great expectations regarding compensation; she would be content as long as she and her daughter could have a warm meal each day.
Actually, without Noah needing to say, she had already realized that it was the end of the world, and no rescue team was coming.
"You'll need to prepare three meals a day, ensuring the quality of the dishes is not too low and the variety is sufficient. Occasionally, you'll also need to prepare midnight snacks. You'll also be responsible for cleaning the house, essentially working year-round without breaks. That's the job description."
"As for compensation, you'll dine with me, eating whatever I eat, ensuring you're fed three meals a day. For material compensation, you'll receive a new set of clothes every month, and you can choose the style and type you prefer. Makeup will also be provided monthly, along with two packs of sanitary pads, one bottle of shampoo, and one bottle of shower gel each month. If you fall ill, medication will be provided. If you wish to keep a pet, you'll need to apply, and I'll decide based on the circumstances whether or not I agree."
"As for entertainment, we're somewhat limited at the moment. I can provide you with fitness equipment and books, as well as some music to listen to."
"Of course, if you have any other requests, you can apply, but I can't guarantee they'll be fulfilled 100%."
Hearing Noah's terms, Liu Hui was dumbfounded, her mouth agape. Was this the kind of treatment one could expect in the apocalypse? It was a hundred times better than what she had imagined, beyond her wildest dreams.
"I accept," Liu Hui blurted out without hesitation.
Noah waved his hand, "I'm not done yet. Don't rush to agree. The hiring system I use is for life; you can't just break the contract unless I decide to fire you."
Noah grinned, "In other words, you'll be working for me for the rest of your life. Once you agree, your freedom is essentially over. Think it over before you answer."
Liu Hui: "..."
A lifetime appointment? Cooking for a lifetime? My goodness... Are you sure this isn't a benefit?
Do I even need to think about it? Absolutely not.
"I'm willing, as long as you don't mind, I'll cook for you for a lifetime."
Noah nodded in satisfaction and shook hands with Liu Hui. "Welcome to... working at my place. I hope we get along well."
"Thank you, boss, thank you so much... Just, can I bring Qiaoqiao along? If not, I won't go."
Noah glanced at the girl sitting nervously beside them, pondered for a moment, and thought, having a cook and now needing someone for cleaning, why not? It's a two-for-one deal.
"One more won't make a difference, but under the condition that I don't keep freeloaders. She can come too, but she'll need to take on most of the household chores, like laundry, sweeping, mopping, serving tea, and such. She'll have the same treatment as you."
"Qiaoqiao is very obedient and hardworking, she won't let you down. Thank you for taking us in, we're truly grateful."
Liu Hui's eyes reddened as she quickly stood up to bow in thanks. Yu Qiaoqiao also bowed in gratitude.
"Thank you, Qiaoqiao will be obedient and work hard, and definitely won't freeload."
The drastic turns in life had come so quickly, both women were moved to tears.
Noah smiled slightly and with a wave of his hand, pulled out a steaming hot 'Kentucky Fried Chicken' family bucket and two bottles of Coke from a spatial dimension, placing them on the table. "Looking at your faces, it seems you haven't eaten in a while. Make do with this for now to fill your stomachs. After eating, I'll take you away."
Seeing the fried chicken and Coke suddenly appearing on the table, the two women covered their mouths in surprise, looking at Noah as if he were a deity. What kind of sorcery was this!
"Does it not suit your taste?" Noah asked, puzzled by their lack of movement.
"Not at all, not at all," they both said in unison, waving their hands.
Then, without further restraint, they began to eat voraciously. Yu Qiaoqiao was even eating and crying, not from sadness, but overwhelmed by the deliciousness.
Watching the two devouring the food and drinking the Coke, the surrounding survivors became disheveled. The scent of meat in the air had them frequently swallowing their saliva.
"Can you get me a bucket of fried chicken too? I'll pay ten thousand for it."
"Get me a bucket too, no, half a bucket is fine. I'll pay a hundred thousand."
"Me, me too, me as well."
"I'll pay a million, no, ten million, just for a chicken leg."
"Brother, I can write you a check, fill in any amount you want. I just want half a chicken leg, even a chicken bone is fine, I'm not picky."
The survivors, driven by hunger, began to bid wildly.
Noah, annoyed by the commotion, waved his hand dismissively, "Go cool off somewhere else."
Seeing that Noah was uninterested in money and checks, the crowd felt helpless; they had nothing else of value to offer.
Among them, some even recklessly considered stealing the food from the two women.
With just a glance from Noah, a dagger flew from behind him, striking and knocking out the would-be thief. He refrained from a lethal blow, simply because his two new employees were eating. A bloody mess would have spoiled their appetites.
After that, no one dared to approach with the intention of stealing again.
The abilities displayed by Noah were beyond the comprehension of ordinary people, almost like those of a superhero. It was likely that the collapse of the staircase was also this young man's doing.
Facing such a superhuman, they knew they were completely outmatched.
