Anton looked at Suin, who seemed to be acting normally in her job as a cashier. If she weren't working, many could be fooled in this world. But it must be known that parasites want to assume the identity of their host, though this task is more complicated than it sounds.
Monsters have no emotions, lack common sense, and do not act normally, unlike humans, who often act unconsciously.
Detective Kim watched as Anton stood in the line where Suin was attending. He wanted to intervene, but doing so would only put her in more danger, so he stayed aside.
"We're in danger." Suin heard the voice in her head. She had understood that she now had to live with something inside her body that could completely control her if it wanted to.
"Is he one of yours?"
"No, but he's someone more dangerous, and he's coming for us."
Suin discreetly looked around and asked, "Where is he?"
"Closer than I expected."
At that moment, Anton, who had taken two packs of cigarettes, looked at Suin and, with a serene look, asked, "When is it?"
"What?" Suin was scared just seeing Anton, who seemed to be the man Heidi was talking about.
She was ready to run away at any moment.
"My cigarettes. I've never tried a Korean brand, but these are the most famous." Anton pointed to the packs of cigarettes in his hand and slightly smiled.
"Just put your card..."
Anton observed every movement of Suin and knew immediately that she was human. No malevolent entity could pretend as well as she did, especially not in front of him.
So, why was she afraid?
If she wasn't a parasite, then she would treat him like any other foreigner, so why did she fear him? The only answer to this would be an incomplete integration—the parasite's control over her was affected.
"What is your name?" Anton looked at Suin, but beyond his gaze, he was deeply looking into her as if trying to see her soul.
"My name..."
"No, not yours..." Anton pressed a button, and at that moment, the cellphones of everyone inside the supermarket rang.
"A drill?"
"Whatever it is, we need to get out."
Suin looked at Anton, who just stared at her. She lowered her gaze and saw the content that had been sent.
"A cyclone alert?"
"If you run, I will kill you. If you stay and talk, you might survive." Once everyone left, men in black suits approached from all directions, aiming.
"What's going on?"
"You know I'm talking to you. Why are you hiding from me?" Anton smiled slightly, and with a subtle movement of his hand, Heidi, who was alert to any murderous intent, appeared, giving the man before her a fierce attack.
Clang!
The blade that emerged from one of her tentacles struck a black knife that Anton had drawn from its sheath. Looking at Heidi with a fierce gaze, he shouted, "Do not attack; neutralize any information leaks."
In an instant, Anton disappeared from his position at a speed never before demonstrated by a human. Avoiding most attacks, he struck Heidi's stomach with force.
Boom!
Heidi hit the wall, and before she could get up, she felt an overwhelming pressure on her body that prevented her from moving.
"I'm not interested in knowing how you've managed to control only a part of Suin, but if you attack me again, I will kill you." Anton this time drew his modified Desert Eagle and aimed it at Heidi's head.
Heidi, who was spitting blood, murmured, "I thought you were going to kill me. You made me feel that sensation."
"I usually give that impression to dark entities, but if you are useful to me and have no intention of being part of the parasites I'm hunting, then I'll let you live."
"It's a deal. My survival is above that of my own species." Heidi accepted without hesitation.
Anton nodded, put away his weapon, and made no more moves to avoid giving Heidi the wrong idea. He looked deeply into her completely black pupils and asked, "What is your purpose on Earth?"
