Anton was not in the mood to explain himself to a woman who had just pointed a shotgun at him. This gave him enough reason to distance himself for a while and properly rest after a long journey.
"How much weight do you have in those integrated weights on your arms?" Alexander was curious after seeing Anton's arms surrounded by numerous ankle-weight types.
"At least four hundred kilograms. I wanted to increase the weight with the integrated suit, but the specially designed weapons limit my weight after one ton." Anton had enhanced his physical abilities to the point of being unbeatable.
Alexander could see it—the speed at which Anton moved was worthy of his surname, the exterminators of dark entities who are respected worldwide.
"Don't think too much about it; I'm not someone special." Anton didn't want to sound special when there were hundreds of Light agents who surpassed him solely with their will to keep fighting despite all their problems.
Many didn't fight just for themselves. Everyone fought for their parents or to have a struggle that was truly worth it for the future of their own country.
Everyone had different motivations; there were even agents who fought for their pets.
It varied from person to person, and that's what made the Light agents special, fighting day in and day out.
...
A few hours later, Anton, who had woken up, received the preliminary report from the association in this country.
"Do you know why they assigned this case to us and didn't let the military handle it?" Anton asked, looking at the man informing him about the updates.
"I have no idea, Cardinal."
"We have the capabilities to eliminate those invaders. We have the equipment and administration to make it possible." Anton set aside the water bottle he was drinking from, looked at the sunset, and asked, "Is she here?"
"I've been waiting for an hour."
"Tell her to come in."
The agent nodded, bowed respectfully in the Korean manner, and went out to bring the woman who wanted to meet with Anton as soon as possible.
A few minutes later, Anton heard footsteps while he was reviewing some documents.
"What's your name? I struggle with Korean names, so I'd appreciate it if you assigned yourself a European one. It's nothing personal; I just think we'd understand each other better."
"You can call me Lucy." Choi smiled in her characteristic manner, but certainly, this way of being was...
"Has an organization of parasites been created? That surpasses any limits established in the last five days. How high are the numbers?" Anton looked at Lucy, this ill-tempered woman who seemed to take parasite elimination to a personal level.
According to the latest documents, these estimates were becoming stronger, which was concerning.
An organization of aliens in the human world?
"It's too early to jump to those conclusions." Lucy didn't expect Anton to be like her; she really didn't know how this man worked, so she didn't want to make mistakes.
Anton looked at Lucy and said, "Don't treat me like the politicians or idiots in high ranks who only know how to sit in their offices waiting for good answers, Lucy. Parasites are not the only thing we face."
"What do you mean?"
"I can tell you've been lucky to live a long life without witnessing the darkness that this world hides. But as the time has come for you to get involved, I must recognize that you are one of the fastest to adapt, and that's what we need."
Anton fell silent, pointed at the wall, and said, "Unlike any other problem we might face, parasites are an entity we know nothing about, and we don't know what else might come to this world."
Werewolves, vampires, demons... At least Anton and the entire Light Association have been able to keep all those creatures under control for hundreds of years, but it's different with parasites that come from an unknown place.
"We will place this area under an emergency. I want all exits and entrances to this locality strictly controlled by the Light Association. You will guide me in this place since I don't know exactly where to move." Anton said as he handed over what was necessary for Lucy to understand more about the world she barely knew.
