"Zz... Wolf Team, we have entered the building."
Boom!
"Zz. We have contact with the enemy."
Bang! Bang! Bang!
In the research and control center, Anton continuously watched a replay of a video showing an elite S.C.G. team facing off against a dozen parasites that were beginning to gather.
The parasites appeared to be in a group, which hadn't been seen in recent days. Clearly, they were starting to organize and act together rather than chaotically as they had been.
"Elevate the danger level of the parasites, notify the other departments, and mention the danger of them forming an enemy organization." Anton frowned as he looked at the number of casualties.
Alexander looked at the losses and said, "We have been trying to use net weapons, but the problem is that the movements of the parasites are unpredictable, and they have a concerning combat adaptation. We've had a 100 percent success rate in eliminations thanks to the drones, but beyond that, even the armor suits are not effective."
This clearly indicated that they were not equipped to eliminate the parasites, suggesting the need for a new division exclusively trained to deal with them.
AI simulations might be good, but the problem was whether they had enough time to train a division of at least a thousand elite soldiers capable of eliminating the parasites.
That's why they would now employ more sophisticated weapons, better designed for these creatures, and, in the best case, use explosive drones to sufficiently damage the parasites to finish them off much faster.
"What's the information from other countries?" Anton asked, feeling the pressure of the accumulated issues over the days.
Alexander sat down, displayed information on the main office screen, and said, "From what we know, the activity is higher in Japan. They have much larger confirmed masses than the rest of the countries, followed closely by South Korea, which has begun to see hundreds of related cases in the past few days."
"Did they all fall on the same day?" Anton looked at the dates, wanting to know if it was the same for other countries.
"That's correct. We haven't detected any further atmospheric movement indicating a new wave of invaders." Alexander sighed after making a special report.
Anton appreciated this and asked, "What about the activity of these parasites in our community?"
"It's very serious. We have evidence to believe that a parasite has taken over the body of a damned werewolf and has been wreaking havoc in many parts of our control zone. I hadn't informed you before because we weren't sure, but now we know for certain."
Anton remained silent. If this were the case, that dark entity would have just become a top priority. "Send me the data. We need to investigate it."
"Understood, sir."
"Prepare the elite team of the Light Association, request my authorization for the worshippers, and do everything in your power to locate it." Anton walked out of the office, arrived at a training center, and asked Rafael, "Do you have any agents who can serve as an assistant and also be a good driver?"
"I have someone, but he's still in training." Rafael thought of someone who would be very useful.
Anton waved his hand and said, "Bring him here."
When Rafael called the agent who would assist Anton, he looked at the report and knew that James Darrell Edwards III, known to others as Jay, would be his apprentice from now on.
Truth be told, he couldn't take Alexander or Rafael now. They had become great leaders who now presided over his orders and served much more, leading parts of what Anton had left behind.
"An ex-police officer..." Anton nodded, looking at Jay's file.
Originally, Jay was a New York City police officer. Jay's career changed when he was assigned to pursue an extremely fast, dark entity disguised as a human. When he finally caught up, the entity gave him a warning before jumping off a building. Once at the station, he was interrogated, and suddenly, he entered the S.C.G. agent program.
"Did you call for me, sir?" Jay stood in front of Rafael, impressed by the man beside him.
"This is the Guardian Archbishop, and he needs an assistant. Do you think you can handle it?" Rafael looked at the man, hoping he wouldn't make a silly joke.
Jay looked at Anton and said, "Shit, of course I'm ready to kill witches. Damn, I've been wanting to ask a question that's been bothering me for a long time."
Anton nodded and said, "You can ask me anything."
"I'm a bit terrified of exorcisms, so if you don't mind, have any of your assistants ever been possessed?" This was Jay's biggest fear about being selected as a field agent.
Anton smiled and said, "Come on, we don't have time."
"But you didn't answer my question."
"I agreed to let you ask a question, but I never agreed to answer it. Let's go."
