"We are following a man who we believe has deeper information about the parasites than anyone else; is that correct?" Agent James, who now worked with Anton, looked at him, waiting for his response.
This time, Anton wouldn't be so naive as to underestimate his fiancée, so he said, "That's the information. We just need to follow him while pretending to be on a date."
"Are we going to kill him, cut him, or just steal the information?" James asked while beginning to strap explosive grenades to his chest, as if he were about to go to war against a single man.
Anton shook his head and said, "We are just investigating."
"If you ask me, I think we should bring heavy weapons. You never know what grotesque things we might encounter these days. My grandfather fought a bear, but I believe that if we carry the right weapon, there isn't a creature in the world we can't eliminate." Jay was very stubborn on the topic of weapons, which amused Anton a little.
Anton looked through the rearview mirror and said, "There won't be any combat. As an S.C.G. agent, you will be on espionage and investigation missions so that people like me can eliminate the threat."
The only reason Anton was getting new companions was because he was forging his leadership structure. Rafael now took care of the exorcists, and Alexander managed the S.C.G. agents, but Anton wanted him in logistics. This would leave a vacancy, so he was preparing the next S.C.G. leader to replace Alexander, who currently led an entire brigade, in simple terms.
"Alright, let's go now." Anton got out of the van while lighting a cigarette.
What can be said about the current world? Technology is advancing faster, and the plans to detect the parasites are much simpler than they thought, so they only need to install special cameras.
"Please, do you have some money?" A girl approached Anton as soon as she saw him cross the street.
Looking at this child, Anton wondered what society was doing with its capabilities to properly raise a child. Even here, life was still undervalued.
"Here, girl, go home."
Anton bent down to give the girl some money, but at that moment, an idea came to mind, and he asked, "Have you seen anything strange around this place lately?"
The rumors of truly grotesque murders always happened between one and three in the morning in this place. This, of course, wasn't enough to warrant a visit, but they had evidence of what they were looking for.
The girl looked at Anton; she could see he was a priest, and she said, "In the alley next to the bar Los Tres Hermanos, things always happen. If you don't want something bad to happen to you, never go to that place."
"Well, go home now." Anton said as he observed the disturbances around him.
"Call me crazy, sir, but I think it's not worth sacrificing ourselves for this bunch of inept people who spend their time drinking and partying while we bleed night after night, not knowing when we're going to die." Jay approached while holding a couple of huge, hot burritos.
Anton looked at this man and tried to keep calm amid all the intense emotions he was having. "Were you that hungry?"
"Huh? Of course not; one is for you... Let me tell you, eating while doing an investigation makes us look less suspicious. When I drink a lot, I always go to the burrito stand and buy the biggest, fattest, and longest one to fill my stomach."
"Honestly, I'm regretting bringing you along. You're still too reckless to understand our true purpose in working in this world." Anton didn't plan to give Jay a lecture, so he took the burrito and walked towards the alley the girl had mentioned.
They were looking for a man who had privileged information about the parasites in this area, but it turns out that the dark entity identified as a werewolf was also nearby.
"We have to find that man before the parasite does." Anton stood outside the bar while eating his burrito.
Jay approached and murmured, "I told you, no black man wears a damn suit in this godforsaken place. Everyone keeps staring at me; they think I'm the damn Franklin Saint."
"Stop talking; the suits protect us from bullet impacts and attacks from supernatural creatures." Anton would usually enjoy these jokes, but now was certainly not the time.
At that moment, Jay pointed to a man walking upright, holding the hand of a drunken girl, and curiously, they were heading towards that alley that no one dared to enter.
"Damn it, get ready." Anton silently drew a long knife.
Jay handed his burrito to a drunk man and walked away while drawing his gun. "Is that black man the target?"
"Any problem?"
"No, none."
