Chapter 273 - Communications

"Zz... Guardian, we have made contact with a strange creature, but we have neutralized it without any problems."

Anton, who was in the helicopter, heard this but said nothing. There was no reason to mention anything about it. He couldn't worry about minor issues when there were bigger problems at hand, but he would leave that to others.

"Inform everyone that we will finish this and leave the rest to the secondary team. We will take a week off and then continue with the next job." Anton made a necessary decision.

"Understood, Guardian."

It was easy to see that Anton could continue, but to be a good leader, he also needed to give his most trusted men time to live their lives, meet a partner who understood them, and visit their families.

Truthfully, this was the most vacation Anton could give to his men under his command. The world was not exactly at a good stage to take vacations lightly.

When the helicopter landed in an open field, Anton got into a truck that was waiting to take him to the last area where they had faced the other predator.

"Quick report."

"Reinforcements have arrived. They neutralized the predator, and as you said, they helped it avoid death. Although it refused to give us its weapons, it eventually lost consciousness, and all weapons were removed from its body."

Anton didn't know why he wanted it alive, but he was sure that if they had some kind of connection with that predator, the things they could understand would be much better.

"Send a general notice that the threat has been neutralized, but emphasize that it would be better for everyone to stay at home until tomorrow," Anton said as he got out of the truck.

But as soon as he stepped out, Anton was greeted by the cold gaze of Akira, who had been giving orders to people to do what he wanted until recently.

"How did it go?" Anton knew she was upset.

Akira looked at Anton; she could see the visible wounds, and by the way he walked, she knew he had been injured. "If you do this again, I will do the job on my own."

"You couldn't keep up with me. I also didn't want you to be in an area where you couldn't control the circumstances." Anton didn't know how to express himself. All he wanted was for Akira not to get hurt.

"I didn't think this would bother you. There was no one else to trust with the other Predator, who, by the way, is alive."

"That doesn't mean you should put yourself in danger every time you get the chance."

"We'll talk later."

Quinn looked at Anton approaching and was surprised that he was in one piece. "Sir, I'm Sergeant Quinn."

Anton stopped him before he could give more explanations. "I know perfectly well who you are, Sergeant. I will need a very detailed report of everything you've experienced since your mission in Mexico. If things go well, you will be re-incorporated into an S.C.G. division."

Truthfully, Anton needed people committed to eliminating dark entities. Sergeant Quinn had shown good will for these cases, so he was a perfect candidate.

"Sir, my other companions have also helped me a lot." Quinn stepped forward to speak for the soldiers who had helped him through all of this.

Anton looked at them, knowing that some of them had mental problems, but they would be good soldiers if employed properly.

"As a fair reward for your cooperation with the current mission, all of you will be pardoned regardless of your crimes and will be installed in an S.C.G. base if you perform well."

Quinn smiled upon hearing this, and Gaylord was also encouraged to know that he hadn't risked his life only to be sent to prison afterward.

"Good, I want the inspectors to go door to door to make sure no one has seen or recorded anything they shouldn't have," Anton said to a group of people waiting for orders.

"I want them to analyze the air and water and make sure everything is in order."

"Understood, sir!"

Anton walked towards where Akira was and said, "We will leave in a few days; let's rest."

Akira looked at Anton sternly and said nothing. It was obvious that she was angry, but this was something new for him. No one had ever genuinely cared for him before, and it was only fair that he ensured Akira never got hurt.

Maybe Akira didn't know this, but Anton made that vow as soon as he decided she could work by his side.

"Don't you want to eat something?"

"I'm not hungry at all; you can go alone."

Anton greeted the people who looked at him with great admiration. His smile became rigid in front of a situation he had never been in before.

"I should ask Alexander or Rafael for help." Anton thought as he tried to find a solution.
