Chapter 267 - Facing the Enemy Without Reinforcements

"Where are we going?"

Anton took the driver's seat and said, "There's a school nearby; we need to go there to wait for reinforcements."

They couldn't move because they didn't know the alien ship's objective. Combining both technologies with the predator in a laboratory would be like putting all their eggs in one basket.

To Anton, there was no doubt that the Predator was looking for the other one, who was likely a fugitive, an enemy, or perhaps they were simply hunting each other. From what he had heard, the laboratory didn't have good defenses, so it was almost certain it would fall by the end of the day.

"Do you think the Predator is coming for its toys?" Akira looked at the alien mask in the back seats of the truck.

Anton didn't know and didn't care either; the important thing was that they needed to be well-prepared in case the Predator found them somehow if it managed to escape.

Why was he so sure?

Amid this entire war, Anton had developed an intuition, and of course, he needed to be careful with everything around him.

As night was falling, Anton knew that the scientific base where the Predator was had been attacked by the same individual they had decided to investigate.

The most surprising thing was that this individual had human DNA, which had puzzled all the scientists.

"What do you think it means?" Akira couldn't believe how an alien could have human DNA in its body.

Anton recalled everything he had seen, formulated a response, and asked, "Do you know why predators choose humans as their favorite prey, far above others that are stronger than us?"

Without waiting for Akira to respond, Anton said, "Predator warriors value honor greatly, at least most of them, ignoring those dishonorable Predators who have caused damage. We humans have a lot of intelligence when fighting strong, unknown, and dangerous enemies."

If the predators valued humans for honor, it meant that humans had high value. What Anton saw in those projections were predators injecting different types of DNA into their bodies, and for obvious reasons, he thought it was the DNA of defeated enemies.

"If that predator has human DNA, it means it has experimented with it, absorbing all human knowledge, our virtues, and also our flaws."

"Is human DNA the reason it's now a fugitive and being pursued by the enemy ship?" Akira drew her own conclusions.

"That's right, but what I still don't understand is why that predator comes to Earth if it's fleeing its pursuers." Anton didn't understand this; did that predator see value in them?

"Zz… The laboratory has fallen, and the support team is arriving at your location."

Anton silently smoked his cigarette while Akira began opening the suitcases with their weapons, immediately pulling out the bow modified with cutting-edge technology. The explosive arrows were another one of her advantages, each one more powerful than the last.

To Anton, it was a modified anti-tank sniper rifle that could not be used by anyone other than Anton because it was not manageable without supernatural strength.

"Zz… We've found an alien ship; what are the instructions?"

Anton took the radio and said, "That ship and everything it contains will be under the direct control of the Light Association, in the name of Anton ShadowBane. Anyone who dares to manipulate that ship will be killed on the spot."

"Zz… We will await orders at this point."

Quinn, who was entering the community where he lived at that moment, was stunned to see that there was no one on the street, even though it was Halloween.

"I don't want to sound pessimistic, but we've gotten ourselves into the biggest mess we could. Does anyone know where the hell the people are?" Gaylord looked at the empty streets while riding a stolen motorcycle.

The rest of the group remained silent. After escaping jail, they all thought it would be a good idea to come here where the celebrations could hide them from the police, but that wasn't the case.

"We need to go home." Quinn was worried about his family.

"First, let's find a better vehicle."

All of them, along with the scientist Casey, headed to Quinn's house while driving a stolen van. No matter which direction they looked, it was as if the people had vanished.

"Emily! Where are you?" Quinn entered his house in search of his wife and was surprised to find them in the basement.

"What the hell are you doing down here?"

Emily looked at her husband and said, "An emergency alert was issued; no one can leave their homes due to a government statement saying that a terrorist group is causing havoc."

"Where are the things I sent?" While listening to all this, Quinn was looking for the alien objects he had sent to his house.

"They took them."

"Who?" Quinn looked at his wife to learn more about it.

"A man and a woman came; they had weapons and knew exactly what they were looking for, as if somehow they knew that the things you sent were here." Emily told him everything that happened before his arrival.

Quinn quickly went upstairs and looked at the other fugitive soldiers: "They took them."

"Damn it..."

"I suspected it; now I guess the police are looking for us."

"I don't think so. If they know about the aliens, assuming it's dangerous to be on the streets, they've imposed a curfew. The police aren't looking for us."

"Roooaaarrrr!!!"

At that moment, everyone in the house heard a roar similar to that of a beast not far from their location.
