Chapter 266 - Something Strange in the Air

Anton descended the stairs of this house, hearing nothing but faint beeping sounds in the air.

"Kid, are you here?" Anton reached the basement and saw a huge helmet on a table and what seemed to be an illuminated holographic map lighting up the place.

Upon seeing this, he felt a new emotion, surprise, and admiration for something new that he couldn't hide. Immediately, he approached, taking the helmet and the wristband, which seemed to be another item.

"Don't take it..."

Anton turned upon hearing that tiny voice in the corner of the room, only then noticing it was a child, likely Quinn's son. "Kid, this shouldn't have fallen into your hands, so I'll take it to keep you out of danger."

Among all the options, this was the most coherent, so that's what they would do. The boy named Rory didn't want Anton to take that toy; it was the coolest thing he'd ever had, so the last thing he wanted was to let it go.

"I saw cool stuff..."

"Did you put on the helmet?" Anton turned his gaze back to the helmet, now illuminated, and out of curious unease, he put it on as well.

In just a few seconds, he noticed numerous projections, seeing several aliens they called predators experimenting on others. Evolution itself was happening before his eyes, and it was more than cool.

"This is incredible..." Anton muttered these words as the projections ended.

Rory looked at Anton and said, "Did you see it too?"

"Yes..."

"And there's also the map." Rory pointed at the wristband in Anton's hands.

"Show me." Anton looked at the mischievous little boy, who must have been playing with these alien weapons long enough to understand their significance.

When the map displayed, Anton could see many of the markers exactly where they were, and for some reason, there was a glowing point.

Anton looked at that glowing point, deciding in the end to request an advanced team to head in that direction just to make sure that whatever was there wasn't dangerous.

"Zz... Team en route."

After Anton ended the call, he wrapped the helmet in a curtain lying on the floor and was about to climb the stairs when Akira rushed down.

"What's happening?" For Akira to come down at that speed, something must have been going on, and Anton was aware of it.

Akira took a deep breath and said, "An enemy ship has entered the planet; currently, a squadron of fighters is heading out to intercept it."

Anton looked at his helmet, thinking of something that could very well happen. "They're searching for it..."

"What do you mean?"

"They're searching for the predator they caught; that approaching ship should be piloted by a hunter." Anton climbed the basement stairs.

Akira understood what was happening.

"We're leaving now; send a message to cancel the Halloween celebrations immediately." Anton knew things would get ugly from this point.

Akira made a quick call.

"Wait a moment, did you find what you were looking for?" Casey looked at what Anton was carrying, surprised.

Anton looked at the woman and said, "Tell your husband to find me if he manages to escape; knowing his trait, that's what I expect."

"Will you let us go?"

Akira quickly approached and said, "If you value your life, you'll understand our message; don't do anything foolish that endangers your life and your son's."

"Don't mention it..."

"If I were you, I'd leave town for a while; things are going to get tough from this point."
