"You say you have the ability to know what others are thinking; fieldwork may not necessarily be dangerous. Although, knowing what's happening in the world, your skills can be very necessary as a control agent."
"Control agent?" Casey didn't understand what Anton meant.
Akira, who had arrived with sodas, said, "Control agents are in the field, but they don't interact with the targets; they track dark entities and determine if they're a threat to be eliminated."
"Normally, you'll be in the field; of course, it would be dangerous if you're discovered, but it wouldn't be anything compared to what we do." Anton took the time to bother Casey with the things they did so that she would be aware of the work they would do.
Control agents are similar to priests in their beginnings as exorcists, but unlike them, agents are responsible for monitoring areas where there are strange cases or energies detected with meters.
For the Light Association, as well as for other people, it's a complete pity that a dark entity isn't detected until it causes a murder. Now, with the parasites, it's estimated that the death tolls will be even more disastrous.
"There's a new class of enemies about which there hasn't been information in the last few years; the world is once again facing a crisis that will undoubtedly leave more dead than the last pack of werewolves killed ten years ago." Anton didn't want to force Casey; he was more interested in knowing about her abilities. Now that he knows, he's not interested in anything else.
Everything would have been perfect if Casey had some good combat skills; only if that were the case would Anton be more interested in recruiting her for his group.
"Well, Akira, let's go because we have to interrogate that beastly man." Anton didn't intend to stay longer in these places, especially when there was a mission still in progress.
Akira understood that they couldn't force Casey, so she stood up, but not before taking out a business card. "You can call us if you want to know everything about the truth; you'll have access to what's mostly hidden, and you'll understand that the world is indeed."
Truth be told, Anton didn't recommend that ordinary people have access to the real information about the state of the world; there was no way for anyone to end up well after knowing everything.
People who end up committing suicide, young people, and agents who end up killing innocents due to a false thought about a dark entity.
This is why not everyone was selected like Casey; many had years of training, and the S.C.G. agents are the only ones recruited from external forces, but at least they were aware of how to follow orders.
Anton touched Akira's tightly tied ponytail with a kind of ribbon; her hairstyle was peculiar, but he liked it because he could distract himself with it.
"Leave my hair alone."
"It's because of stress..."
Casey watched Anton leave; she had been thinking a lot about everything she had heard, and what bothered her the most was that everything was true. She needed a change; the world was too cruel, so she needed at least to be with people who understood and valued her.
All this time, she had been trying to read Anton's mind; his restrained behavior was a clear sign of being very serene, but at the same time ready for anything that happened.
"I want to join you..." Casey finally said those words.
Anton, who was arguing with Akira about when and when not to touch her hair, turned around. "That's an excellent decision; Akira will be your mentor."
"Join us." Akira smiled slightly, but not without giving Anton a stern look.
By the time they started talking, they had reached the car. Anton made a call to have Kevin prepare for a deeper conversation.
"What will you do with that man?" Casey was curious when she heard the call.
Akira looked in the rearview mirror just to make sure no one was following them and said, "It won't serve us to keep him as a prisoner; what we'll try to do is make him our ally."
"He's crazy; you won't achieve anything."
Anton smiled upon hearing that and said, "Indeed, he's a lunatic, but don't forget that we don't depend on common people's skills; we're more special."
