Chapter 138 - A 23-Year-Old Vengeance

"Don't run, you damn demon! Face me one-on-one as a hunter!" Rafael shouted as he walked through the bushes, his senses alert for any traps or attacks from another demon they might be unaware of.

He still remembered his mother's smile, his father's tough character, and his little sister and how cute she was. Rafael could recall them as if it were yesterday, and he had joined the Light Association because he knew perfectly well that he would encounter this demon again someday.

As he grew, his skills were polished to become an excellent hunter and exorcist. Every time they killed innocent beings, he vividly remembered his mother's death and how she whispered to him through tears to not scream and to hide under the bed.

Rafael could still hear his father's screams when he saw his mother being killed. As a man, he confronted the demon without fear of death. These memories were burning flames that were now flashing in Rafael's mind as he pursued the demon.

Was he not afraid? Not at all. He just wanted to be an adult at that moment to help his father kill that demon. But being just a child, he hid under the bed and waited. He wanted to wait; he knew that over the years, he would grow, and at that moment, he would be better prepared than anyone to kill that demon.

And now that he had it in front of him, regardless of whether it was the same demon, Rafael was filled with energy.

"Come on, you damn coward, face me." Rafael challenged the demon again with a defiant voice.

Crack!

And just when he thought that demon wasn't interested in facing him, a crack sounded from the bushes, and a horribly looking demon emerged holding a knife.

"That's what I'm talking about, you damn wretch!" Rafael threw his rifle to the side and pulled out two knives from his waist. The silver that killed demons shone in the moonlight.

This was Rafael's dream—to kill a demon with his own hands. Feeling the blood drip down his knife was what he had been preparing for all this time. Regardless of whether he dies now, one thing is certain, and that is that he will take this demon with him to death.

Rafael supposed that this was what everyone would call a death for a death.

In any case, regardless of the outcome, now it would be decided whether he would succeed or fail in all those combat simulations he had been running in his head over the years.

"I'm going to slice you like a damn pig!" Rafael said as he approached subtly.

The demon raised its bone knife and licked the blood with a smile on its face, knowing that Rafael was easy prey. Looking closer at its appearance, Rafael noticed that this demon actually wore human clothes to deceive humans and make them believe it was a man. It was currently dressed in a red T-shirt, pants, a dark trench coat, and a hat.

Just as Rafael was about to initiate his attack, the demon jumped into the sky without spreading its huge wings since one of them was injured.

When the demon jumped, Rafael quickly stepped back, holding his daggers tightly in his hands.

"Arghhh!" With clear hunting enthusiasm, the demon roared, knowing it could enjoy this hunt better.

"Come here, damn you!" Rafael's rough voice growled with anger.

At that moment, the demon propelled itself with its one good wing and fell like a comet towards the ground, just near where Rafael was standing.

"Too close!" Rafael, who was ready for a life-and-death battle, couldn't help but hesitate at this moment.

His will couldn't change the reality he had in front of him. When this figure fell from the sky, Rafael felt weaker; it was difficult for him to breathe in front of a thing that had killed his parents.

But in the next moment, Rafael came to his senses again and attacked with his knife.

The demon, wanting to play with Rafael, didn't realize that he held very special knives that could indeed pierce its tough skin.

In fact, these demons didn't know who they were dealing with. The fact that they didn't know that Anton and Rafael were hunters would end up playing against them.

Rafael, who had moved under its gaze, saw a knife burying itself in its leg but still did not back down. He fiercely stabbed the demon in its chest.

Arghhhhh!!!

Blood gushed from the demon's wound instantly. This demon with a human appearance let out a cry of pain and took a step forward.

Rafael was attentive to the movements of his target; his left hand pressed down firmly on his right hand, which was the one that had stabbed the demon. He pressed with all his might, but there came a point where the dagger wouldn't sink any deeper into the demon's skin, so with a kick, he distanced himself from it.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a long time." Rafael smiled coldly as he held his other knife with his right hand.

With that thought in mind, Rafael accelerated again, limping.

The sounds of the wind and the knife piercing the flesh became the only sounds in the surroundings.

But the demon didn't stay idle either; its claws tore at Rafael's skin, and both began to roll across the sand.
