Anton looked at the shuriken bone embedded in his shoulder but didn't remove it to avoid worsening the bleeding. His gaze solely focused on where the demon he had shot had fallen, and with a subtle look, he thought, "He shouldn't be too far away."
At that moment, his only strategy was not to give the demon a chance to recover.
"Come on, show yourself." Anton murmured as he observed the trail of blood on the ground. He had used a type of bullet common among hunters containing demon poison, silver, and a blessing of restriction that should have rendered this demon powerless.
Crack!
Anton turned around, glanced between the rocks not far from his field of vision, and, at the same time, concealing his body with darkness, approached the wounded demon subtly.
"Look at that; are you afraid now?"
The demon widened its eyes; the bullet had penetrated its chest and remained near the central area of its body, causing continuous bleeding.
Arghh!!!
Without knowing where the voice came from, the demon roared in pain.
"Every living being feels fear!"
Clang!
With a whisper, a dagger buried itself in the demon's leg, making it roar in pain and anger as it couldn't see anything.
"Everyone who bleeds will die!"
Bang!
Anton, hidden among the bushes, shot the demon in the hand, and it detached from its body.
"Ahhh!!!"
Fresh blood from its victims spilled through the demon's wounds, forming a puddle around it.
Anton, who had reloaded his rifle, aimed again, this time at the demon's other hand, and murmured, "I heard that you enjoy killing only the victims who fear you the most. If you can think, how much fear do I instill in you?"
Bang!
Arghhhh!!!
The demon was desperate; just when it believed the attacker was farther away, a silhouette appeared in front of it.
Anton, this time surrounded by light, muttered while wielding his sword, which glowed in a bluish color, "Holy Creator, I praise and bless you for your kindness and love. I ask in the meaning of my humble existence that you send me light if I am on the right path and do not let any darkness blind my vision."
Argh!
The demon stuck out its tongue; it wasn't afraid.
Anton didn't expect this demon to feel something like fear. What comforted him was being able to inflict suffering on it, just as Yoshio had felt.
At that moment, when Anton had nothing more to do, he moved the edge of his sword, cleanly severing the head of the demon that was motionless on the rocks.
Clang!
Special methods were needed to kill these demons, but Anton didn't require anything like that to kill this demon. As soon as its head was cut off, he walked toward the body and placed a cross on its chest, leaving it with no chance.
"Don't even think about it." Anton raised his rifle, hanging from his right shoulder, and shot the head that had rolled on the ground.
Bang!
With a shot, the head shattered into a thousand pieces, giving Anton the peace of mind to now search for where Rafael should be fulfilling that vengeance he had spoken about.
"I hope you're not dead, Rafael." Anton walked without feeling guilt. They are simple things, priests; they have very different paths, and in a way, it's the only thing they are trained for: killing demons.
If they weren't exorcists, many things wouldn't make sense. Anton couldn't deny anything to Rafael, so knowing this, he simply let Rafael's path lead him to his destiny.
Everyone lives and dies for objectives, so knowing that, Anton won't interfere in any of his comrades' objectives.
"Kill or be killed..." Anton murmured, glancing at the demon's corpse on a rock, and a few meters away, Rafael was lying on the ground.
Anton didn't say a word as he approached Rafael; looking at his wounds, he wouldn't know if he would live, but what he could do was gradually give him divine energy.
"Can you hear me?" Anton smiled slightly, seeing that Rafael had done his job.
Rafael opened his eyes, looked at Anton, and asked, "Did we eliminate them all?"
"Seems like everyone is dead," Anton said, looking around, and just as he was about to say something more, a series of helicopters approached from the distance.
"Zz... Guardian, we have arrived."
Taking the radio, Anton looked at the helicopter and said, "We have an injured agent; he needs quick medical attention."
"Zz. We'll descend immediately, sir!"
"Investigate the surroundings!"
