Chapter 112 - The World is Unjust

Feeling as if a powerful wind was approaching, Anton, who was a few meters away from Sadako, positioned himself better, resisting the impact that arrived seconds later.

Crack!

With no possibility to do anything, he frowned and slowly retreated with an urgent need to counterattack, but with no possibility, he simply resisted.

"I warned you; today you will die!" Sadako's sinister voice echoed in Anton's ears, but without any fear, he maintained his position.

"The world is unjust, isn't it? But that anger-consuming behavior won't change anything. You're not relevant, and you never will be, Sadako Yamamura." Anton, feeling pressured, uttered these words, and at that moment, he felt he could move within this powerful airwave.

Anton took a step forward, resisting the force pushing him back, and his gaze was only fixed on his target, who seemed unmoving.

"Killing me won't change anything. Killing people won't alleviate your pain. But there is a way to change everything, and that is to ascend from this world."

Crack!

But these words seemed to infuriate Sadako, who immediately threw a tree branch at Anton like an arrow aimed at his heart.

Anton, seeing this, immediately made a movement with his sword and cut the wooden stick that wanted to pierce his chest. However, that did not stop the advance of the part he had cut, and it caused it to embed in his abdomen.

"No matter what you do, I will finish this job at any cost. My will goes beyond the reach of my body, and for that simple reason, I will do what is necessary to erase you from this life." Anton didn't remove the branch stuck in his abdomen; it didn't seem to be a mortal wound, so he didn't give it much importance at the moment.

"I don't understand. What's the reason for your concern for humans who deserve to die?" The sinister voice was heard in the surroundings.

Anton smiled slightly. This wasn't about the people but about himself, who is currently in the process of redemption for the sins he was being condemned to hell for. "You wouldn't understand. If you knew that heaven and hell existed, you would understand that there would be no need to persist in this world when you are already dead."

Living and killing are not the same as dying and continuing to kill. Anton understood this, so he would do his best to erase any evil until he died or knew that he had done enough. Staying in this world as a resentment was not part of him; that was the difference between him and Sadako, who was haunting.

"You have a more sinister aura than the dead. Don't you feel that?"

"It's not like I care." Anton raised his sword; his body began to glow with a bluish color, and he approached Sadako, who stood motionless.

The surroundings became colder, and Anton's breath left a trail of mist in the air, highlighting the capability of this vengeful spirit. But this didn't stop Anton because his enhancements were so good that he could keep fighting without receiving too much damage.

Crack!

Anton looked at his surroundings, which seemed increasingly agitated. His gaze searched for anything that could harm him, and at that moment, behind a tree, a series of rocks the size of a baseball flew towards his head.

Moving his sword, Anton directly hit that rock, and the fragments scattered around. But it wasn't just one rock; there were at least a dozen stones coming from different places, so some did hit his body.

"Argh..." Groaning quietly, Anton did his best to minimize the damage received but still prioritized attacking Sadako.

"You are very persistent; you understand nothing."

Anton, who was at a close distance to Sadako, tightened his grip on his sword, increasing the force, and divine energy in his body concentrated in his surroundings. The light dispelled all the dark energy in the vicinity, and when it was enough, he attacked the heart of the evil spirit.

Sadako did nothing to move away from this attack. The light in her surroundings erased all the resentment in her body, and she couldn't move, nor did she want to.

"Now you can rest. I'm sorry for arriving too late." Anton looked with a certain sadness at Sadako's now pure face. All the evil in the surroundings was erased, and the resentment disappeared as if it had never existed.

"The world is not fair, is it? I hope you endure, Father; many spirits that have not been able to ascend will need your help, so I expect the best from you." Sadako extended her less visible hand, but the moment she touched Anton, she disappeared from the surroundings.

Anton, who saw the surroundings change, knew he had achieved his goal, but that didn't make him feel better. There was no sense of victory in eliminating the evil spirit; he simply felt sorry for how some had to live their lives.

"If I had known all this in my past life, I would have done everything possible to help those who really needed it. I regret being so selfish." Anton, who returned to reality, walked towards the well, removed what covered it, and looked inside.

Anton took a deep breath and murmured while making a symbol with his hands. "Grant him, Lord, eternal rest, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the evil spirits enjoy the light that was taken from them by the mercy of the light, amen."

In front of the well, Anton kneeled down due to the painful wound in his abdomen. Fresh blood gushed out, but his expression did not show pain.
