Chapter 4 - The Continent

Six weeks have passed since the attack on the Misty Woods Tribe.

In the blink of an eye, the group of survivors had fled in four simple boats across a distance that not even they knew how long it was.

Storms, attacks by sea creatures, and even an encounter with pirates had tried to hinder the journey of the 20 survivors from destruction to the Giant Island.

But the will and determination of these people was no small matter. After days without a single piece of land in sight, they finally spotted something!

...

"I see something!" One of the 20 survivors shouted as he noticed something different from the sea a few dozen kilometers ahead.

"Are you sure, Nate?" Elder Snyder asked as the lines on his face grew deeper. "The last time you thought you saw land, it was actually a bad people's ship."

On the day in question, their group had wiped out the people on the pirate ship after the enemies tried to attack them.

The moment the pirates drew their weapons, the strongest of the group acted with such power that even the enemy ship was not spared.

To these people, anyone similar to those who had attacked their village on the Giant Island was an enemy. When such pirates showed their aggression, not even Seth felt sorry for them.

So they hadn't even switched ships or gotten any information from those pirates.

Some of them had thought about their mistake afterward. Still, at the time they had acted, they had been so angry that even the most experienced had missed the opportunity.

Seth, for all his talent and leadership, wasn't the best at planning, so he had only seen enemies to be eliminated in that attack.

Who knew what had happened to the people they had left in the village, so taking revenge on these enemy races was the best they could do.

Hearing the old man talk like that, the individual with an eye on his surroundings lowered his head and said nothing, knowing that he had indeed made a mistake that day.

But then Seth said out loud. "Nate is right. There is land ahead!"

Everyone rose from their positions, some with satisfied expressions because life at sea wasn't comfortable.

Not only did they have to fight regularly and work to move their boats, but they had nowhere to sleep and no food.

Not being able to rest was terrible!

Fortunately, they didn't have to rest and eat every day.

"Boss, what are we going to do?" One of the young men who respected Seth the most asked loudly and clearly. "We're about to reach our enemies' lair. Are we going to fight?"

A few others thought the same and looked at Seth expectantly.

But Seth had something else in mind. "Yes and no. Be prepared to fight our enemies, but let's take it slow. We don't know anything about the place we want to reach.

Maybe the enemies have traps, or maybe it's just the underlings where we're going. We want the masterminds behind what happened on the Giant Island!"

The elders and the strongest of the group agreed.

That was an unknown world that every First Elder had long warned them never to enter. They knew nothing of the lands to the west. Hence, caution made sense despite the anger in their hearts.

As they watched the place grow closer, three of them jumped into the sea and swam to the shore of the vast expanse of land before them.

As the boats slowed down behind them, all the survivors soon realized something was wrong with such a place.

The Giant Island was huge, but they could see the limits of it. But this new place seemed to have no end!

At a certain point in their journey, they realized that they couldn't see the limits of this place!

Seth was one of the three in front, but this strangeness didn't stop him. He continued on until he reached a point where he could walk along the sandy beach.

He was the first to appear there and soon used several of his skills to check for people nearby, traps as he had thought.

But there was nothing for hundreds of meters. That was just a beach, like many others on the giant island.

"There is nothing. Continue the landing!" He said.

After a few moments, the whole group abandoned their ordinary wooden boats and gathered on the stretch of beach where Seth and the other two first arrivals were watching their surroundings.

Then someone said. "Seth, I'm hearing something to the northwest of this area." Said one of the elders, with several wrinkles on his face and white hair where there were still hairs.

"Those must be the enemies!" Dax clenched his fists.

Seth narrowed his eyes. "Let's get closer to this place. We'll attack after taking a closer look!"

With these words, they began to run through the tropical forest in front of them, following the direction indicated by the previous elder, ignoring the animals around them as they moved at high speed.

Meanwhile, a village of just over 100 families lay ahead of them.

Wagons and various four-legged animals could be seen on the dirt roads of this village, from which one could easily see agricultural fields on one side, the forest on the other, and a patch of ocean on the other.

The village was a few kilometers from the beach. Still, its location gave the villagers a privileged view of the great ocean.

The houses there were mostly made of wood, but while some looked like simple residences, others had distinctive designs, where people met for meals or other types of socializing.

The people on the streets were dressed differently than the survivors of the Misty Woods Tribe, with more cloth around their bodies than Seth's people used to have.

The women covered much of their bodies, and aside from their faces and a little of their necks, most of them hid most of the rest of themselves under clothing of varying colors and quality.

The men were more varied, but even some of the shirtless workers in the village didn't show as much skin as the men in Seth's group.

Looking at the place from the top of a tree, Emery frowned, finding the differences between this place and her home village rather strange.

"Seth, please let me attack this place." Elder Atlas asked in an emotional tone. "I will crush this little village with one hand!"

Seth understood Atlas' anger and said nothing for a moment.

But then Moses Snyder spoke up. "We can't attack them like we did with the evil men days ago. We'll kill these people after we've extracted what they know. We won't get to those directly responsible for attacking our tribe if we just wipe out everyone in our path."

The more intelligent and experienced agreed with Elder Snyder's words.

Dax said. "We better do it like that, Seth. We all want to do what Elder Atlas asked. But our mission will be harder to accomplish if we act without asking questions."

Seth closed his eyes and agreed. "All right, let's go to the village. If they attack us, we'll neutralize their warriors without killing them all. We'll interrogate the village elders to get our answers."

With that decided, the group set off without further hesitation, heading for the village without caring whether there were people there to attack them.

The way they were going, it would have been better if they had been attacked. That way, they could let off some steam and vent some of their frustration!

But as they entered the village and walked through the dirt roads towards the center of the area, they didn't attract any brave warriors, but rather a lot of strange looks and whispers.

As they walked along, staring at the people around them, they found themselves with a problem.

"What are they talking about? I don't understand anything!" Atlas asked another elder.

They didn't speak the same language as these people!
