A moment of thought.
"Meaning?" Mr. Petrov asked, raising a brow.
"How can you suggest I stay in the mansion all the time and stop stepping outside?" Adeline asked, the displeasure in her tone very clear.
"Dimitri does what he wants. He found me pathetic enough to open our marriage for the both of us. He and I agreed to it, you did too. I don't understand why you're suddenly meddling."
Mr. Petrov's eyes were murderous as he looked at her, but he didn't react. Rather, he dropped the cigarette into the ashtray and crushed it.
"What happened to the two men I sent after you yesterday?" he questioned, digressing.
Adeline's body tensed up a bit, but she was quick to compose herself before it could even cross his notice.
"What two men?" she asked, acting clueless.
Mr. Petrov's face crumpled into a frown, and he abruptly gripped her harshly by the chin, his eyes boring into hers.
