Varvara blinked, momentarily frowning.
"Of course," she lied. "I just wish she treated me a bit better. I really don't like getting hurt."
"You are right." Dimitri, who wanted the topic to die as quickly as possible, agreed and reached out his hand to caress her hair.
Mr. Petrov smiled, watching the both of them. With how well his son was treating Varvara, he was absolutely sure the wedding would happen without any issues. It wasn't easy to get Mr. Fedorov to work on a contract with him.
Despite knowing that Dimitri was married, he didn't mind handing his daughter over. He said he'd rather do that than have her run around with those stray boys who are good for nothing and would only tarnish their reputation.
"And did you put her in her place, Dimitri?" he asked.
Dimitri diverted his gaze to him and quickly nodded his head. "Yes, Dad. It is all sorted. She'll behave."
