His father sighed, rubbing his temples. "Kelvin, I want you to understand that our family's reputation is at stake here. We can't just associate with anyone. We have to think about the future, about the family business, about our social standing."
Kelvin felt a surge of frustration. "That's all you care about, isn't it? The family business, the social standing. What about my happiness? What about what I want?"
His father's expression turned stern. "Your happiness is important, Kelvin. But it's not the only thing that matters. You have a responsibility to this family, to our legacy. And I expect you to take that seriously."
Kelvin shook his head, feeling a sense of disappointment. "I can't believe you're not supporting me on this, Father. I thought you wanted me to be happy."
His father's expression softened slightly. "I do want you to be happy, Kelvin. But I also want what's best for this family. And I'm not sure Kayden is it."
