Chapter 1 - Nothing will ever be the same

As the last bell of the school day echoed through the empty hallways, Xavier hurried to the restroom. Breathing heavily and with his heart racing, he threw himself into a stall and locked the door behind him. Leaning against the cool, white tiled wall, he examined his trembling hands with his eyes. What he saw caused his heart to squeeze and his body to sweat. In his palms glowed the mysterious talismans his father had told him about. Growing up, Xavier had always resented his father's dangerous profession. He was always risking his life, often coming home battered and exhausted, sometimes even disappearing for days at a time. All Xavier wanted was a normal life - a normal school, and normal friends. But now, as these symbols glowed mockingly on his skin, he realized that fate had other plans for him.

When the family sat down for dinner, Xavier's hands were covered with a pair of delicate gloves that hid a secret. He couldn't help but watch as his father slowly stirred the steaming soup. The wooden table they sat at was worn, its surface bearing the marks of countless meals shared by Xavier's family. The room was dimly lit and the only source of light was a flickering candle placed in the center of the table. The smell of hot soup filled the air, but even its comforting scent did not affect Xavier.

There was a hint of worry in his father's voice as he focused his eyes on the soup instead of his son.

"How was school today?"

Xavier sighed deeply before answering, his voice weak and his words tired. His father raised his right eyebrow and turned his eyes to his son. Concern was etched on his face.

"At least take those gloves off during dinner. They'll get dirty."

Xavier was silent for a moment, lost in thought as he stared at the untouched food in front of him. He came up with a simple excuse to keep wearing the gloves.

"I'm cold."

With that, he slowly got up from the table and made his way up the creaky wooden stairs to his room.

"I'm going to bed." he called out, without even turning around.

Xavier had disappeared into the shadows. When he disappeared into the shadows, he left only the sound of heavy footsteps as a trace of his presence. The dim dining room had fallen into a gloomy silence. The flickering candlelight cast eerie shadows on the face of the only person left in the dining room, accentuating the lines of worry etched into his features. His father, consumed by worry, could do nothing but continue to eat in silence in this deserted place.

The next day, the sun shone brightly overhead as Xavier made his usual route to school. Despite the cheerful mood, darkness was heavy inside him. The mysterious symbols engraved on his hands appeared in his thoughts, pondering their meaning and purpose.

Would he have to embark on dangerous adventures like his father? Or could he live an ordinary life, free from danger?

These questions tormented Xavier, gnawing at him at every step. Xavier, who was walking absent-mindedly under the influence of his thoughts, was saved from this situation by the slight shaking of the ground under his feet. He stopped his steps and began to scan the surroundings with curious eyes. But there was no one in sight. Xavier's heart pounded rapidly in his chest and his eyes were wild with fear and anxiety when he saw the huge pillar of earth looming ahead. This pillar of the earth was a terrible menace threatening to crush him. Desperately, he tried to step backward, but, as expected, he failed and the inevitable collision took place. The huge earthen pillar crashed into Xavier with an impressive roar. Xavier was knocked to the ground by the force of the impact. A scream of pain filled the air. His nose was broken, his face contorted in pain as blood spurted from his nose, his eyes closed tightly, the corners of his mouth turned downwards and his brow furrowed in pain. He lay dazed as the ground shook beneath him.

Xavier opened his eyes to a hooded figure. The man's cold, piercing gaze sent a chill down Xavier's spine. With a split-second movement, the figure lifted and summoned the earth to rise and attack Xavier. Xavier looked for a way to defend himself, but the fact that he was inadequate and powerless, hit him painfully in the face. The only thing he could do was run. He sprinted through the streets in a frantic effort to survive this attack, fear coursing through his veins. As he ran, he cried out for help in desperation, but his call reached no one's ears. As he ran, he turned his eyes for a moment to his trembling hands, thinking that the intricate symbols etched into his skin could somehow save him from this danger.

As Xavier ran, he felt as if the weight of the Earth had fallen on him, and he could barely breathe, his lungs burning with each breath. The hooded figure pursued him relentlessly, using huge pillars of earth to force him into a corner. Xavier didn't know why he was after him. But he guessed it was one of the dark forces his father had told him about. Xavier could only rely on the talisman symbols he had. But Xavier didn't know how to use it.

He just went with his instincts. As he approached the bridge, he noticed how the sunlight that had been shining brightly just a minute ago, had suddenly faded away, leaving him in the dark. Xavier went under a bridge. Xavier's fingers frantically traced a symbol on the surface of a wall. He hoped that this unique mark would have the power to generate electricity, perhaps strong enough to neutralize the menacing figure approaching him. He was so focused on drawing that for a moment he was unaware of the danger looming behind him. When he had finished drawing the symbol, he turned around to face his opponent, sweat dripping down his temple. The man was standing right in front of him. At the last moment, Xavier pressed the tips of two fingers together with a gentle touch. In an instant, an electric current flowed between him and the threat in front of him. As the electricity flowed from Xavier's fingers to the man, the man's body convulsed and he collapsed. Xavier watched the man writhing on the floor, wide-eyed with astonishment. For a moment he felt a sense of triumph, but it was clear that it would not last long.

Xavier did not understand how the symbols worked. It seemed like a miracle to him, but it didn't take him long to realize that it was a short-lived miracle. The man he had been scrutinizing with his eyes continued to move despite everything.

Suddenly the ground shook and huge pillars of earth burst out of the ground, shattering the bridge, while a great noise echoed through the air. Xavier's leg was caught under one of the pillars and he was completely helpless. In excruciating pain, he realized that the man responsible for the chaos was lying in front of him, panting and bleeding profusely. This man, using the last of his energy, raised his hand and summoned a stalagmite to finish Xavier off once and for all. Desperate, with his eyes closed, Xavier pointed his right hand at the man and triggered Alchemy, unleashing a blast of fire that enveloped his enemy, burning him alive. The stifling heat and the smell of burning flesh overwhelmed Xavier's senses as he watched his enemy die before him. Panic added to his mixed emotions as Xavier struggled to free himself from the collapsing pillar, realizing he might not make it out alive. A pained scream escaped his lips as he frantically tried to push the heavy debris off his leg. Just when all hope seemed lost, sirens echoed around, signaling the arrival of rescue teams. As the sound drew closer to Xavier, a glimmer of hope shone for Xavier amid the destruction and chaos surrounding him.
