Chapter 16 - chapter 16 running away

The battle in the wolf pack's den had been a costly one, and Long Su knew that they would need to regroup and reassess their strategy before facing the wolves again.

As they ran, they periodically turned to fight, their spears flashing in the dim light of the dungeon.

But each time, the wolves forced them to retreat, their relentless pursuit wearing down the skeletal troops' defenses.

Long Su knew that they couldn't keep running forever, and he needed to come up with a plan to shake off their pursuers.

Finally, while fleeing from the ferocious wolf pack, the howls of their pursuers echoed through the dungeon, and after hours of running and fighting, Long Su noticed a change in the dungeon's atmosphere.

They ran across the barren forest area, the scorching sun beating down on their bony frames, before seeking cover in the dense forest.

He knew that the wolves were tireless, but he also knew that running all the time would only affect him and his decisions.

So he chose a good place in the dungeon environment that could be used to his advantage.

There, using the foliage of the trees as a shield, and placing the remaining spear-wielding skeletal troops, they formed a protective barrier around their master.

The signs he had been waiting for were upon him, signaling that the dungeon's advantages were shifting. It was almost time.

With a fierce determination burning in his chest, Long Su bellowed orders to his troops, urging them to stand their ground.

The remnants of his skeletal army were quickly summoned; skeleton slaves were pressed into service as disposable meat shields, while the more skilled skeleton militia formed the second line of defense.

The remaining spearmen arranged themselves around Long Su, forming a protective barrier against the attacking wolves.

The air was thick with the sounds of battle—the clashing of weapons, the snarling of wolves.

As the wolves launched another attack, the clash of metal and bone filled the air as Long Su and his troops held their ground.

Their spears and shields were put to the ultimate test, deflecting the ferocious onslaught with expert precision.

With each passing moment, the dungeon's entrance time of advertising came closer and closer; its looming presence was a constant reminder to everyone that ending time was approaching.

As Long Su and his skeletal army fought fiercely against the wolves, a sudden white light enveloped them, blinding their vision.

When his eyes adjusted, he found himself standing once again in front of the dungeon gate.

Around him, his fellow students stood in varying states of disarray, some covered in dirt, others in blood, and some girls with disheveled hair.

They all wore looks of shock and bewilderment; their faces were pale and their eyes wide with fear.

Teacher Li stood at the forefront, his expression stern yet relieved.

He addressed the group, his voice cutting through the tense silence.

"Welcome back, everyone. I trust you all had an eventful first experience with real-life danger."

The students, still reeling from their encounters within the dungeon, began to murmur amongst themselves.

Some expressed their relief at having survived, while others questioned the intensity of the dangers they had faced.

"Why was the dungeon so dangerous?" one student asked, his voice shaking with emotion. "We were barely prepared for what we encountered."

Another student piped up, her eyes flashing with anger. "Yeah, we were thrown into life-threatening situations without adequate training or information. That's not fair!"

Teacher Li listened to their concerns; his expression was grave. "I understand your frustration, but know that this experience was necessary for your growth and development as dungeon explorers. The dangers you faced were real, and they were designed to test your skills and abilities. It is only through facing such challenges that you will become stronger and more capable."

Teacher Li's eyes hardened as he listened to the students' complaints and questions. He had little patience for their accusations, knowing that the dungeon's dangers were necessary for their growth.

With a sharp gesture, he silenced the room, his voice ringing with authority.

"No more questions about the dungeon. This is real life, and your weaknesses are your sin. Shut up and keep getting stronger!".

The students fell silent, their protests dying on their lips. They could feel the weight of Teacher Li's annoyance, and they knew better than to push him further.

The teachers then instructed the students to line up, their watches in hand.

They moved down the line, recording the points each student had earned within the dungeon.

Long Su, who had killed 12 goblins and 67 wolves, had the highest point count among those who had faced similar enemies.

But surprisingly, another student, surnamed Hu, had managed to kill the dungeon's lord, the ogre, along with many wolves. This feat awarded him an overwhelming number of points, ranking him first among all the students.

Another student, surnamed Lin,known for his intelligence, surprised everyone by accumulating a substantial number of points through strategic manouvering and clever use of his resources.

His performance showcased the value of wit and cunning in the face of danger.

As Teacher Li recorded the students' points, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride in their achievements.

Teacher Li finished recording the students' points and stepped forward to address the group. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation as the students awaited the announcement of the top scorers.

"Students, I am proud to announce the top three scorers in our recent dungeon exploration," Teacher Li declared, his voice echoing through the silent room.

"In third place, with an impressive number of points gained from defeating numerous goblins and wolves, we have student long!"

The students erupted in applause as Long Su stepped forward to receive his reward, a hefty sum of 5,000 gold coins. He accepted the reward with a mixture of pride and humility, his gaze scanning the crowd of his fellow students.

"In second place," Teacher Li continued, "we have a student who utilized his intelligence and strategic thinking to overcome the dungeon's challenges. With a substantial number of points earned, I present to you, Student Lin!"

Another round of applause filled the room as Student Lin stepped forward to receive his reward of 7,000 gold coins. His face was a picture of satisfaction, his eyes gleaming with the knowledge that his cleverness and resourcefulness had paid off.

"And finally," Teacher Li announced, his voice rising above the excited whispers of the students, "we have our first-place winner, Student Hu! With an overwhelming number of points earned from defeating the dungeon's lord, the ogre, and numerous wolves, he has secured the top position."

The room erupted in cheers as Student Hu stepped forward to receive his reward of 10,000 gold coins. He stood tall, his chest swelling with pride at his remarkable achievement.

Teacher Li looked out over the sea of young faces, feeling a sense of satisfaction at their growth and success.

He knew that the lessons they had learned within the dungeon would serve them well in their future endeavours, especially long su and his skeletal units who had achieved third place, which was beyond his expectations.

He was proud to have been a part of their journey, despite their initial struggles and fears; they had all shown resilience and growth within the dungeon's depths.

Their experiences in today's dungeon would only make them stronger and more capable as they continued their journey into the unknown.
