Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: fake or real

After the excitement of the dungeon exploration and the announcement of the top scorers,

Teacher Li announced that the students would have three days of holiday to recover from their dungeon exploration and prepare for their next adventure.

Long Su returned home exhausted.

The battle with the wolves had taken a toll on him, both physically and emotionally, and he was eager to put the experience behind him.

He collapsed into his bed, allowing the comfort of his familiar surroundings to wash over him. He fell into a deep, dreamless sleep, his mind and body finally able to rest.

The following day.

The memory of the wolves' ferocity still haunted him, and he knew that there would be even greater challenges awaiting him in the depths of the dungeon.

But he also knew that he couldn't let his fear hold him back. With the three-day holiday ahead of him, he resolved to use the time to train, honing his skills and strengthening his resolve.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Long Su rose early the next morning and made his way to the bustling Lord's Market area.

The market was a hub of activity, with vendors hawking their wares and shoppers haggling for the best deals.

The smells of exotic spices and the sounds of lively chatter filled the air, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

Long Su knew that his Skeleton Craftsman was capable of creating powerful weapons and armor, but he also recognized the need to enhance his skeletal army's strength in other ways.

He navigated through the market stalls, his keen eyes searching for anything that could give his army an edge.

As he wandered through the market, he came across a stall selling rare magical items.

Among the various trinkets and talismans, he spotted a small vial filled with a luminous blue liquid under the name, 'strength liquid.

"Excuse me, what is this strong liquid and what is the maximum level of unit it can be used at?" The vendor sees someone finally come to him and ask about his business.

"Hi little friend, this is a great thing to strengthen level 1 and level 2 units, and what they can depend on is their own abilities." The owner of the stall is a wizened old man with twinkling eyes, explained in a calm voice. "Also, it will only cost 10 gold coins per bottle."

Long Su examined the potion carefully.

"Can it be used with own undead units like the skeleton?" asks the most important questions.

"If your units are skeletons, then it's easy as long as they can make their own bones." The vendor explained that when applied to skeletal troops, the potion could enhance their strength and durability, allowing them to withstand more damage in battle.

Seeing the potential benefits for his army, Long Su purchased a 100-bottle bottle of the potion, excited to test its effects.

With the vial of skeletal strengthening potion secured, Long Su continued his exploration of the Lord's Market.

He knew that there were many other ways to improve his army's strength and capabilities, and he was determined to find them.

As he continued his journey through the market, his ears caught the sound of a nearby commotion.

A vendor with a booming voice was shouting, "Dragon blood trees for sale! First come, first served!"

The words "dragon" and "trees" piqued Long Su's interest, and he moved towards the source of the noise, curious to see what the vendor was selling.

As he drew closer, he saw a stall filled with small, intricately carved wooden statues. Each one was shaped like a tree, with branches that twisted and curled in fantastic shapes.

But as he drew closer, he also heard another voice—a sneering, disdainful voice that carried across the market.

"Look at this liar, trying to sell garbage as something valuable!" the voice scoffed. "Only a fool would buy this fake, good-for-nothing wood!"

The crowd around the stall began to laugh and jeer, their mocking voices rising in a cacophony of ridicule.

Long Su watched as the vendor's face turned red with embarrassment and anger. It was clear that the so-called "dragon blood trees" were nothing more than cheap trinkets, and the crowd was not fooled.

Long Su shook his head in disappointment. He had been hopeful that the trees might have some connection to actual dragons, but it was clear that they were merely an attempt to swindle unsuspecting buyers.

With a sigh, he turned away from the commotion. As Long Su turned away from the fraudulent dragon blood tree stall, he felt a sense of frustration.

His hopes of finding something truly valuable for his skeletal army had been dashed, and he was no closer to his goal.

But as he took a step forward, a strange sensation overcame him. A bird-like voice began to echo in his mind, chirping and twittering in a language he couldn't understand.

He paused, confusion clouding his thoughts, as the voice continued to reverberate in his head.

Suddenly, the bird-like voice transformed into a strong, compelling desire. It was as if a powerful force were urging him to reconsider the dragon blood trees. He shook his head, trying to dismiss the strange sensation, but it persisted, growing stronger with each passing moment.

Long Su found himself in the midst of an intense inner conflict. On one hand, he knew that the dragon blood trees were likely nothing more than cheap fakes, and he didn't want to be taken advantage of by a con artist.

But on the other hand, the strange voice in his head was insistent, and he couldn't help but wonder if there might be more to the trees than meets the eye.

He stood there, frozen in place, as the competing thoughts battled in his mind. Should he give in to the compelling desire and investigate the trees further, or should he trust his initial instincts and continue his search elsewhere?
